Editorial: Linux Gaming Will Be Fine Even Without Steam Machines Succeeding
21 Feb 2015 at 4:06 am UTC Likes: 4

Valve is a company that is way more methodical about their approach. They seem to be perfectionists so we may not see the steam machines for awhile yet. Because I've noticed how Valve has been working with hardware companies and open source software to create a development ecosystem for Linux with development like glNext.
The day that my physics processor works on my Nvidia video card within games will be the day it's official that things are getting serious for Linux in the gaming industry. and most likely the steam machines will be released around that same time, i'd wager.
Personally I just want the controller :)

Hand Of Fate Out Of Early Access

bought this today, amazing and fun. I really like the unique take on an action RPG with strategy elements. the fighting is fluid with plenty of options for counters and combos. the story mode is well done 16 stories within the main story then it has an endless mode for a full random story each time with the cards you've unlocked from the story mode. it starts out easy and by the half way point gets to be kind of tough at times in the story mode, each story becomes longer and more difficult. runs great on LM 17.1 and Ubuntu Gnome 14.10 so far.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown, With The Enemy Within Expansion Reviewed On Linux
18 Feb 2015 at 9:25 pm UTC

never played this until it came out for Linux, one of those I just passed up busy playing other games at the time. I must admit the strategy turn based combat in this game is outstanding. I was so addicted from day one, had to give this about 3 playthroughs before I finally started to get bored. Only if there was an open-ended map without the story elements to explore and conquer which would give this a lot more replay value. call it the alternate reality were the aliens have fully taken over and you have to recover and liberate all regions from the aliens.

City Builder Game Cities: Skylines Now Has A Release Date
16 Feb 2015 at 10:35 pm UTC

Part of me has been wanting a really good city builder like this. Paradox has been a decent developer for Linux. Crusader Kings II seems to work great. But Warlock 2 has some issues, but those same issue effect the Mac port as well. So I guess I'll gamble on this one because I feel Paradox will pull through on this one.

Age Of Wonders III Officially Nearing Beta For Linux
16 Feb 2015 at 10:22 pm UTC

this is honestly one of the biggest surprises to see a port. I bought Worlock 2 and was thinking of buying Worlds of Magic because I didn't think I'd ever see an Age of Wonder port... so now i'll have to wait and see :)

Feral Interactive Are Teasing Us Again With A New Port
16 Feb 2015 at 10:18 pm UTC

haven't played skyrim in awhile, after a couple hundred hours played I feel i've done everything. Although if I can play it on Linux that would be cool. Might have to buy some expansions for it then. Although the idea of something new and different would be really nice.

Divinity: Original Sin Is Pushing Ahead For The Linux Release
7 Feb 2015 at 3:31 am UTC

I've been very patiently waiting for this one since they had the Penguin symbol on their Kickstarter page. Honestly I was starting to really wonder if they ever would. I purchased this game back when it was in early release on Steam. Made me really reconsider these games that "say they will have a linux port". almost a waste of money, but at least they are now working on it full time. which makes me happy. Now I will finally get to play it... eventually... hopefully lol :)

Borderlands 2 Also Looks Like It's Coming To Linux, UPDATE: Confirmed
4 Sep 2014 at 1:19 pm UTC

good thing is I haven't bought this game yet, and since I heard wind of this I've held off from buying it several times now. Just so I can get it when Aspyr releases it, so they get the credit :)

dual booted for years with windows for gaming and ever since Feral Interactive (XCOM) and Aspyr (Civ5) have started giving us awesome AAA ports I'm 100% Linux now. plus D3 and Hearthstone run great on wine... so I'm good for awhile.

Steam Hardware Survey For July 2014, Linux Dips
4 Aug 2014 at 9:04 pm UTC

the survey popped up when I had just installed Steam on Wine to see if I could get certain games to run on wine again. So I refused it, then restarted my Linux install and I haven't received the survey at all again. I'm mainly using Linux Mint, was using Manjaro for the past month though... distro hopping is so much fun.
