Quoting: Zelox
Quoting: aLnot sure about ubuntu, but steam is i386-only in debian...
There is no problem in running 32bit apps in a 64bit system.
The problem is when you try to run a 64bit app in a 32bit system.
Steam is a 32bit application, but it has no problem to run in a 32bit/64bit system.

I dont know if there is any advantage for a 64bit client over a 32bit client.
I remember when wow got its 64bit client, the game ran alooot better.
But thats a game, steam is just a client.
I know, but how do you get to install a i386 if the i386 arch is gone? :)

The first step to install steam on debian is to dpgk --add-architecture i386 && apt update

not sure about ubuntu, but steam is i386-only in debian...

also, the number of installs does not seem negligible at all... with that logic, they should remove support for the rest of the archs with less number of installs... (ie. nearly all of them)

PS: I thought I was out of this, but now i remember my kodi machine is i386... I moved it from ubuntu to debian long ago tho...

And so it begins, the Steam Summer Sale is here

A third of Valve now working on VR, still no Linux support

Quoting: MrTennessee17How does VR work with people who have to wear glasses?
yes

Quoting: MaelraneI would like to have the opportunity to run a vive on linux, but to be honest I too think that VR is a hype for many years to come.

Like with 3D (television), VR comes up every few years/decades and I still don't see technology anywhere near to be usable by the broad masses.

And let's face it: without the masses, no money, without money no show... simply as that in a capitalistic world.
Im afraid you are wrong. You clearly havent try them yet.

This is the first generation that is good... and the second generation can only be even more awesome... I can understand 1/3 of valve working on apps for this... (probably hl3 to be honest.. With this it can be up to the hype)

And I say im afraid because this quit the focus on linux... :(

Quoting: ziabiceFeral, can you please stop porting games I already own and played using WINE? Thank you!

Please bring us: Sleeping Dogs DE, Batman, Deus Ex: HR, Hitman, or whatever you already ported to Mac OS X that's not a RTS game that I don't own.

Cheers,
My wallet
maybe you can put the list of your games on advance, so they can work on it...

Or you could stop using wine and play things that are on linux already. My backlog of native linux games is longer that I would like already :)

Steam's latest Hardware Survey is out, shows Linux at 0.84%
