TBH I don't know if I'd buy it again, but this game is a masterpiece IMO:
- nice single player campaign and custom adventures provided by community
- Awesome multiplayer experience with servers in which you could play full RP (GAMEMASTER SUPPORT WAS AWESOME) or action + RP or only action
Ofc all that was only achievable because of the Aurora Toolset, which allowed the community to create content.
I'll follow this project and see what happens.

Feral Interactive's Linux ports may come with Vulkan sooner than we thought (UPDATED)

I really hope I'm wrong but I doubt that Feral's Vulkan versions will have Doom level performances.
In order to have that kind of an impact Vulkan need to be implemented at the GAME ENGINE level, which Feral can't/won't do AFAIK (would be too costly probably). Almost all their ports currently using wrappers also indicate the same.
In other words the "Vulkan" version of the game will most likely benefit those gamers that have poor OpenGL performance (cough AMD owners) because of subpar drivers.
If I'm right NVIDIA users won't feel much perf difference between OpenGL and Vulkan, sadly

Quoting: AnxiousInfusionExactly.Quoting: BlackBloodRumMaybe now we will find out just how well Vulkan can really perform on wait hang on what OS? oh yeah. GNU/Linux! :woot:Hold up, it's still going to be just a port. We will only truly know once a game has been built from the ground up for Vulkan.

Could you ask them if we can install the Elite mod on linux also?
Elite Mod Project [External Link]
The official file is an (.exe) installer but the only thing it does is extract files into the right places.
That said IDK which places are the right ones here.
Owww and there's a Zipped (.zip) with the same files also.
Peace!

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, Chaos Rising and Retribution released for Linux, port report and thoughts

Well this is 1 game and 2 expansions, BUT Retribution work as a stand-alone (not sure about Chaos Raising).
If you want the game with more Features (races) go for Retribution, but if you want the better Single Player I'd go with the Original game.
Yes the original campaign is SpaceMarines Only whereas Retribution every race has a campaign.
That said... the quality of the Retribution ones are very very questionable (feels just like every race shares the same story but with different characters involved).

Quoting: Mountain ManI'm a little confused: Is this one game with two expansions, or three stand-alone games? And if the latter is the case then which one should I get? I should point out that I don't really give a crap about the story, I only care about which version has the best features.I played this game A LOT.

Molten provide a way to "translate" Vulkan code to Metal code.
Such things isn't possible the other way around, I wonder why....
Don't you guys try to find a logical explanation for this move cause there isn't one (at least not a logical explanation that isn't shaddy AF).

Quoting: pythoneerHard to understand this decision. Just use Vulkan for all Platforms – End of story. For the Apple Hardware just use MoltenVK and you're done.This.

AMD Polaris graphics cards are starting to sound pretty amazing

If you just want the best performance, I agree 100% with you.
But if you are like me and you want to see the GPU's price/performance, then no.
All the hype aside 1080 looks like 15-30% faster than maxwell.
Now look at the latest 1080 benchmarks against AMD cards... some games 1080 are TIED with a 390 and in another 1080 has about 10% more FPS. (see around 3:30 min when the DX12 game comparison starts)

Looking those numbers, are you willing to pay 2X more to have 10% more performance?

Quoting: edoPromising, but probably not better than what nvidia has to offerWell that depends ENTIRELY on what criteria are you using.
