Quoting: ArtenMy first thought was when I heard about zenimax: "What that means for doom vulkan renderer?"
Doesn't mean anything. MS Acquired minecraft years ago and never enforced the java edition to change to directx. I'm pretty sure they don't care about changing any games on vulkan, or any actual engine using vulkan.

Seems Valve do intend to go back to SteamOS at some point

Quoting: rustybroomhandleI think Arch-based would be the sensible option here. Arch-derived distros just seem way more stable and upgrade-fubar-proof than debian-derived ones.
From time to time you have some breakage on critical packages (not that often.. but sometimes), it's always fixed but it usually take one or two days, I'm not sure it's really reliable for common users.

Half-Life: Alyx support for Linux aiming to arrive with Vulkan support post-release
18 Mar 2020 at 7:50 pm UTC

I'm really disapointed.. Valve doesn't release its own game with vulkan and for steam OS at release ?? And they make it with dx11 after participating massively on vulkan for years ?? I don't get it..
They just don't believe themselves on linux gaming then, It would not be surprising if they delay more and more alyx linux release.

Psyonix are ending support for Rocket League on both Linux and macOS (updated)

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoI remind you that STADIA IS LINUX and big publishers are supporting it..
As I said, this is not about market share; is about personal beliefs of the big companies CEOs...
Again you're wrong, like for VR analysis, you don't understand economics. Beliefs have nothing to do here... Stadia is linux but google can guarantee revenues to publishers, it is a safe investment, this is that simple. Linux doesn't guarantee anything to anybody, there is no beliefs there.

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoVR is much more niche than Linux and there are several VR technologies, but that doesn't stop publishers...

This is not about the logic of market share; is about the emotions and personal point of views of each CEO.
Of course it is a market share logic, VR is hundreds of time much hyped than linux with heavy future perspective.
Tomorrow you say "I make my game with VR support", you get tons of interest from investor, try the same with "I make my game with linux support", nobody ever gives a s...t of that.

Quoting: sigzprefer the ipv6 setting in first place if you can, it's never the good choice to have to modify the system to fix a program.
As I understand it, ipv6 doesn't work on all servers so the TTL fix is likely the better option.
That's why I said if you can. I should have better said, "it's not the best choice to modify the system, but it can be considered on last solution" :P
