Tweaking the settings and have a powerful Gfx card and machine gave me flawless gameplay.
Yes it would have been nice to be in native OpenGL but it wasn't.
Maybe you need a better graphics card?

I have a GTX 770 and I found witcher 2 performed far better when I turned off the ubersampling option.
I also probably bought at the wrong time, those 9xx cards look great.

I played FF 7 to 13 and they got progressively worse. they peaked around 10, 12 was good but 13 was too dumbed down. FF is over as far as I'm concerned, although square enix have redeemed themselves slightly with the amazing tomb raider reboot.
