Very interested in the game, and it's good to hear that it plays well on Linux. I'm still feeling pretty reluctant to allow any kind of kernel-level anything just for a game.

Linux via SteamI hope that doesn't just mean they're going to leave it to Proton to handle. Not that Proton hasn't been great, but it too often seems to mean that they will happily sell to the Linux/Steamdeck crowd without ever committing to supporting the product there.

For those that are curious about the port arrangement, the linked HP site has a couple of perfect pictures of it. But to summarize:
Left Side: 2 type-A USB SuperSpeed, headphone/mic
Right side: 2 type-C USB SuperSpeed w/ charging, HDMI 2.0, power

Quoting: GuestMake sure to block the game from auto updating if you have a campaign going. Wait a month and it should be fine.To their credit (and Steam's) they do make it pretty easy to defer updates like this. Very useful. Something I wish more developer/publishers would consider using.

I love Stellaris, so it's sad that my first reaction is "uh-oh, how badly broken will this patch be" and "how long until I can go back to playing a stable game"? :(
And as if to demonstrate my concerns, their forums server is now down.

Surviving Mars: Below and Beyond DLC out with a free update, Surviving Mars free to keep

This is definitely a release I was excited for but also definitely one I'm waiting on. :(

it's come with plenty of bugs across all platformsThis is something I was especially concerned about for this release. Paradox has had a lot of quality problems in the last few years and IIRC this is the first update for Surviving Mars not being done by the original SM team. All of the good SM work up to this point was done by Haemiont Games but for whatever reason they're out and someone called Abstraction is in.

BATTLETECH: Heavy Metal brings more classic 'Mechs and new weapon systems, releasing in November

New mechs for those looking for a list:
Archer
Assassin
Vulcan
Rifleman
Flea
Phoenix Hawk
Annihilator
and a new model: Bull Shark (95tons)
Most of the new weapon systems are from the old books: UAC, LBx, inferno rounds, NARC & TAG.
I'm a little nervous about some of the (truly) new weapon systems. Every time they did that in table-top it just felt like the game drifted further away from its core.

This is going to be weird, but I guess I'm ready to make 6 the first Civ game in ~25 years that I *won't* be buying. :(

100% Stellaris since it dropped. More than once I found myself wondering why I felt a little "off" while playing, only to realize it was almost 4 in the morning and I'd been playing for 6+ hours without realizing it (i hope my boss forgives me). It's not a perfect game, but it really hits all of my buttons. I'm completely its victim. And, yes, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it expansion, DLC, etc-wise.
Developers Of Strategy Game Halfway Show Linux Sales & Support Requests

I'd be interested to see how exactly they derived some of those stats, but even if they're off by a fair bit it's still a pretty poor report for developing on linux. That's far too few sales and waaaaay too many trouble tickets generated to make it worth while for a developer to consider linux as anything but a loss-leader (apparently Valve/steam gives some level of additional support for devs that support linux, but i've never seen any details on what exactly that means).
I'd also be interested to see a better breakdown of the trouble tickets generated. Are they all from one or two common causes and/or were trivial to address? Or were they the source of many additional hours of labor? Were there any lessons to be learned from the team's development process that might have mitigated these costs?
