Planetary Annihilation is also riddled with bugs and the single-player part is really unpolished and feels half-assed. Besides that read this first: http://www.quartertothree.com/fp/2014/09/12/wont-live-happily-ever-planetary-annihilation/ [External Link]
It has a lot of potential, but me personally has stopped playing it as it really isn't much fun right now.
From my side a big recommendation for Crypt of the Necromancer. Super fun game (!), although it still lacks a bit of polish here and there and further development (for an early access game) seems rather slow.

Quoting: omer666Warlock2 looks very promising, but is still *WARNING* unplayable on Linux at the moment (it runs, but sooner or later you will encounter a bug that makes progressing impossible). Even the latest beta has some game breaking quest bugs but at least it doesn't segfault all the time. They seem to be working on it, so if you are optimistic pick it up now, just don't expect to be able to really play it right now.Quoting: antarcticianI think I'll go with:I'm really enjoying Warlock 2 despite encountering some bugs. The game play is really well thought out and the universe is entertaining. That's a good HoMM-like if you ask me.

pro tip: get an axe to convert unused furniture in your house into wood and fuel. No way to scavenge all the wood you need in 2x inventory slots. Also upgrade your cooking stove or you will not have sufficient fuel when winter set in.

This one seems cool too and has reached their rather unambitious goal several time over already:

This War Of Mine Survival Game Released, It's Buggy For Linux

It saves into .thiswarofmine which is also hidden, just like many, many other programmes, so I don't see how this is that much of an issue.
The graphics errors seem to be related to using the newest Nvidia (beta?) drivers. With the slightly older one from the Ubuntu 14.04 repository it seems to work fine.

Hmm, played several hours today with zero issues (never had any issues with the anomaly series either... all rock solid). I'm on an Kubuntu 14.04 system with an Nvidia Optimus GPU.
This war of mine is definitely worth playing, however it's quite difficult just to get along with food and sleep... I wish I had more stuff to actually improve my house :(

Reflex, A Potential Successor For Quake Going To Kickstarter

Could still be Tesseract, in fact that they are using a "custom" engine does make it more likely that they based if of something MIT licensed. In game editing it a too obscure feature to just add to a prototype for fun...

Any one got an idea what engine it uses? In-game editing and overall effects might point to something tesseract derived, but since that engine isn't copyleft...

Steam Hardware Survey For August 2014, Linux Slips

*sigh* lets stop arguing about these percentage figures. Besides all the things already mentioned, Steam is a fast growing platform, so most likely there are just more new Windows users than there are new Linux users thus driving the percentage down. However that doesn't mean that there are less Linux users.
The total number of steam users is also not all that interesting, as there are so many F2P accounts on it (especially under windows). The only figure that would matter is the revenue created by Linux users, but Valve isn't publishing that figure.

Would be great though if there was a thin ARM/Android compatible streaming client play games on your smart TV, tablet, dev-board etc.
Maybe the nvidia shield compatibe limelight open-source client could be extended to work with steam streaming not only through the Nvidia driver?
