I didn't buy anything there I don't own afterwards. All Music I bought there I downloaded, The Software I bought there was dilivered as a key for the distributers own platform. Games I didn't buy but all the ones from the giveaways are DRM free and can be saved after installing.
If you buy Audible, Kindle or movies there... yeah, no, I wouldn't do that.

Control Ultimate Edition is adding HDR, ultrawide, FOV scaling, updated DLSS and DLAA

Both DLSS and FSR are really just usable since their 3er versions.
FSR2 is useless, the resulting picture is crap if you not upscale to resolutions above 4k.
FSR4, usable with the new RDNA4 Radeons, is a really great piece of software but needs to be implemented by developers. But reports indicate it is even usable by swapping dll files if the 3er Version is in the game.

FSR2 injection with external toolsThe problem is you dont want to just upscale. My monitor can do this. You want to use a good supersampling algorithm for upscaling and anti-aliasing the picture in motion without artifacts or ghosting.

So, AMD didn't pay enough to get their open source solution implemented instead of proprietary Nvidia shit?

SteamOS-like Bazzite Linux has some nice growth thanks to great handheld PC support

But it would not be worth it if i have to give up the just-works-game-console-UX of SteamOS.

If you think/hope that just a recent kernel/driver will make a significant improvement in performanceNo, actually it's the desktop. Last summer my Deck replaced my living room media and TV PC, where I frequently use desktop mode. Plasma 5 is awful for that, because of scaling issues and problems when using it on the fly docked/handheld. Plasma 6 or Gnome would be a way better experience.

Perhaps a silly question but could Bazzite be a good replacement for SteamOS on a Steam Deck?
Does it do anything better?

Wayland Colour Management and HDR Protocol finally merged

Can anyone help me, I'm a bit lost:
On my EndeavourOS with KDE Plasma Wayland there is neither wayland-protocols nor plasma-wayland-protocols installed.
These protocols are optional? For what? How are they used? On Arch Wiki I have found nothing on this topic.
