Quoting: MinoscerebI like the look of Heroic, it's a lot better designed visually than Lutris and feels more user friendly, but since Lutris can run all the stores Heroic can, and at least for GoG has access to lots of useful scripts for things like mods or just actual playability, I don't see a use case for Heroic for myself. I'm curious where other people fall on this though. Have I missed something about Heroic? This is so curios. For me one of the most annoying thing about Heroic is… it's UI. It uses custom "webby" stuff instead of using native OS controlls like Lutris and it makes it's Look&Feel utterly annoying… Also Lutris just works better overall

Quoting: dpanterSnap? Uh, no. No thanks.Cannonical is just annoying… What's more - it's not like they created something exceptionally new, they just want to ride the hype wave on something that mostly other created…

Quoting: JarmerLibrewolfYes… and they develop everything… oh wait - they rely on Mozilla work and simply remove couple of things, so if Mozilla/Firefox bites the dust, those will vanish into oblivion…

Waterfox
there you go, three alternatives that have no ai integrations whatsoever.

IMHO this is a good development. GOG felt like a side project of CDP without much love. Having it in a private hands and also more focus could push it forward. Steam, privately owned, shows that it can develop nicely. I do hope same will happen with GOG.

IMHO the issue with Firefox "adopting AI" is way overblown. Yes, AI is not great (especially if it's done with speculative bubble and cash burning by big-tech) and it's questionable ethics wise but… sometimes it's usefull and people do use it…
Also what's the alternative? Crappy reskins of chromium? :/
At least Mozilla seems to listen and reacted to the backlash. Imagine google doing that…

The thing about xbox controller is so annoying… they are way better than the PS ones and I love the quality (MS had made really great pheriperials in the past) but the need to use windows to updated it makes me furios… I can't wait for valve controllers to arrive!

Just use tools that work under windows. And if someone is forcing you, for some reason, into propriatary teritory then push back as much as possible? :)

Quoting: BoldosIsn't the a bit "iffy"? Everyone in FOSS realm is enraged when bigcorp do something fishy yet "robinhooding" seems ok? ;)Quoting: _wojtekWinBoat is super weird… and they still require windows licence so for me it's a huge "no-go" meh…Well it can/will install windows even without a valid reg. key (into trial mode). So f you need some windows app for only a relatively short time frame (like me, who required m$ office for about a month due to me preparing/modifying a bunch of office docs for an event happening once a year [ISO 27001 certification audit]), it is absolutely great.
So yes and no at he same time
