Great news and very much in the spirit of FOSS- someone created something becase of the personal need and now it's evolving.

It's also amusing that the project was created in C# and .net -a very much MS tech stack :D

same as colleagues above - had the founders and was paying it but I just realised after about 2 years I wasn't using it (especially after getting steam deck) so I cancelled it ;)

Fedora Linux 43 has officially arrived

Just the other day got a new-old (second-hand) tiny computer for my father (because his previous one was on it's last legs) and while it came with win10 I decided to put Linux on it. Started with OpenSUSE but while it installed OK, it didn't use selected language (despite setting it in the installer). After trying to fix that and bumping agains "use yarn" (which is not present in Leap 16) I decided to try fedora and EverythingJustWorked and it's brilliant... really liking the OS.

And the KDE on this tiny machine (Intel Core i5-7500T + ntel HD Graphics 530) works amazing!

@Mountain Man
Either you are doing something horribly wrong, or you need to find a better distro. I haven't had my operating system break doing a simple update since I stopped using Gentoo two-decades ago, which, at the time, was notorious for that sort of thing.
It was a thing with Arch about 5-10ish years ago (afterwards I gave up on Arch/Linux altogether for a while).
And just the other day upgrading Debian to Trixie on RPi failed and had to juggle some libs over ssh... luckily I was able to recover without the reinstal but meh.

All in all - immutable distro solve the issue just fine and I could put Linux on my father machine without the worry that something would break that simple "restore previous version" wouldn't fix...

Immutable base seems like a great idea - I spend way too much time trying to recover from a broken update and with immutable base it's just a matter of reverting to the previous image...

Valve announce language-specific user review scores for Steam games
19 Aug 2025 at 10:37 am UTC

Uhm... I'm not so sure about this. If they really want to tweak it then allow selecting languages that we care about, whether we want to include "off topic" and then maybe per-platform (steam-deck, linux, etc).

Also, they could at least add "neutral" score, if they don't want to extend it to full 5 score (which I kinda understand, because people can't comprehand it and can't give 3/5 for "OK title that's neither good nor bad" and everything is inflated upwards 🤦‍♂️)

Valve confirm that Steam purchases with PayPal have been limited to a few select currencies

It would be so nice if all bigger banks would invest the time to come up with a solution that allows to cut out those payment-processor middle-men.

There are solutions, but those are all insular solutions... For instance, here in Austria, we have EPS. That's a Web-API that online-stores can use for payment processing with Austrian banks. It's the most user-friendly solution that I know, but it's limited to Austria...

Similarly, in the EU there would be SEPA Instant Transfer, which could be used for a payment processing solution. However, it's optional for banks to implement it, and again, it's limited to EU...
@soulsource well, In Poland I can use BLIK (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blik) which is then part of a wider EMPS (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Mobile_Payment_Systems_Association) uniting similar solutions from other EU countris... Of course there is Wero from EPI, which is pushed hard now which is weird because it's supported only in 5 countries and a handful of bansk while EMPS solution is present in a dozen member states...

at any rate - it seems that a work on EU payment system is on the way and we will be able to dropp MC/Visa/PayPal and other crap in the future ;)

openSUSE Leap 16.0 will need Steam gamers to install some extras due to no 32-bit

Eh... while I love Valve for pushing Linux gaming ahead, I'm aldo kinda annoyed with them with this clinging to 32bit

The upcoming skate. from EA will be unsupported on Linux / SteamOS and Steam Deck due to anti-cheat

I'm mildly annoyed with the push that everything has to be *ONLINE*...
