Quoting: GuestBut I always get slow download speeds in steam, tried googling and some say dnsmasq improves it. Just tried that but no difference in speed. Anyone else had this and managed to fix it?
dnsmasq worked for me (of course, sometimes the servers are just slow), but some people suggested disabling write barriers as well (which used to be default some day, so I wouldn't consider it dangerous). Written down here:

Thanks for the tip but I dont want to risk losing my filesystem in case of powerfailure, I'd rather have it slow :)
Its not something you would like to do on root partition, every other wont do much harm -- but CMON no one has steam data on root, right ?

Why Are We Still Dual Booting?
12 Mar 2015 at 5:29 pm UTC

The dual booting is not as simple as it sounds. For example I am a Linux lover for well over a decade now, however, for one aspect of my work I need to use msoffice (there is no choice (macros etc)) which works terrible via wine.
On the other hand Linux is my main choice when I do main part my work with MATLAB / PHP (vim!) etc. the efficiency, customization and automation possibilities are unparalleled. For a leisure time activities I think Linux has been ready to be used for about five years and I have been persuading my friends to switch to Linux with quite a success.
However, the windows partition is still there and from time to time it is tempting -- for example when my all times favorite game series (might and magic (the rpg)) is coming out and it does not work on Linux at all ...
Nevertheless, on Steam I buy only games which support Linux and play them on Linux -- I try to buy them when they are not on sale (if I have the funds), so that my sins would be washed out with my money :)

New EU Tax Rule Could Ruin A Lot Of Indie Developers
18 Dec 2014 at 6:09 am UTC

I also think you are making too much hustle about it. This is something wich is implemented in the most of e-commerce sites (AFAIK it is implemented for a long time in woo-commerce, the most popular wordpress plug-in, and I implemented it in my company's store in less than two days with testing) ... If you own a store you need to keep all the sales informations anyway (at least in Poland). It is similar with Internet Service Providers -- they all need to keep all the informations about connections of every user for 5 years (so that's MUCH more data) and no ISP went bankrupt because of that.
Paperwork is just something you need to be used to in EU :)

Feral Interactive Wish To Know Why You Game On Linux
3 Sep 2014 at 4:37 pm UTC

I love the customization and automation offered by linux. The control one have over linux and great application base can not be found anywhere else. Linux is my first OS choice by FAR. So yes, I play on linux because i am not really keen on other os'es. Rebooting is tiresome and right now breaks my hearth -- to turn off my bellowed system and turn on some s*** :>. On the other hand for me playing in VM is just ridiculous.
