Great game. Excellent to see that it will get a native Linux port as well. Purchased it some time ago and I'm so glad that it runs flawlessly using Wine.
Should anyone be interested, then GOG version of Banished only requires the following packages to be installed in your Wine prefix:
GDI+
directx

Or easier yet, should you have Crossover Linux, you can simply use this tie to get it working:

Just make sure that you have installed GDI+ in your bottle. Otherwise the installer would appear as a black box. GDI+ tie can be found here:

Can't believe it.
Have been testing it for the whole evening now and runs silky-smooth. Truly, this port is an example how it should be done.

Bought the bundle yesterday with all the addons and such and I still haven't had the time to play it, but... I'm so glad to read that so many people are having superb results with this port. Will post the results later on today when I manage to get my hands on it. Hopefully, they'll be good. :P

Currently not at home while writing this, and will not be until tomorrow, but man... I read this article, gave it some thought, and... while I'm not the biggest fan of Borderlines 2, I enjoyed the humour and addicting gameplay of the first installation. And since this hit Linux today, I just had to purchase it.
Will test tomorrow to see if the port is any good or not, alas I have my fingers crossed and hopes high as I recently got my GTX770 installed.

For me, it's about the freedom of choice. I chose to have a lightning-fast system which is stable and with customizable eye-candy beyond what Windows would ever be able to provide.
Should I grow tired of one desktop or OS, I can always just install another one without paying anything. (except sometimes for the devs as a tip) And the good thing about this is that nearly anything runs on anything. Sure, sometimes you need to sit down, think a bit, read, learn and tweak but in the long run, once it gets running, it's solid and easy to configure next time.

Additionally, the security. You don't have your system reporting data constantly to some unknown server, and if it does, you can easily switch it off. You have full control over your OS, and nowadays, you don't need to have in-depth knowledge of terminal commands to get things done, so it is also suitable for those who don't really wish to go there. For me, I find terminal to be more handy than the GUI in some occasions but not always.

Got a bit off the track there... but the bottom line is that I just love the way Linux is and the only thing that stopped me from going over from Windows earlier was gaming. But now, I'm able to run some very good games on my Ubuntu and finally was able to erase Windows from my SSD for good.

Big thumbs up for every developer supporting Linux gaming!
