Their ideology was compeletly opposite and while the nazis were genocidal the same cannot be said of the soviets. There is alit of propaganda claiming that now, but its simply not true.

Are you from the Baltics? If so, the Baltic states (particularly Latvia and Estonia) played a huge role in the formation of the Soviet Union. If you are from Poland, it was never part of the USSR. We cannot forget the collaboration of the Baltic States with the nazis as well and their curreht sympathies towards them to this day

The reason they were on opposite sides was because the "civilized" Germans and European helping them wanted to exterminate them.

Both of them failed to control Europe - now the Americans do. Given how the Americans are acting towards Europe currently, and how much the Europeans love them I find it funny

False equivalencies. But lets play along with your analogy. If you are killing the cow you dont just kill it for one small piece of meat (at least I hope not), you try to use all the meat.

They cant do "whatever they want", they are a company and represent public interest (as all companies do to an extent).

Actually its true - the "Ukrainian" who owns the company now is actually a Cypriote (since the original guy who owned it before no longer owns it) and the main development team for STALKER 2 moved to Czechia shortly after the war started. GSC is also now headquartered in Czechia, so it is officially a Czech company and has been since 2022.

It doesnt matter if its a "book" and that its a "video game". For many people, especially younger ones, this is how they learn or get exposed to history. It is said art represents culture and history. It is an issue when it represents revisonist history, especially when Ukraine has had an unfortunate history with historical revisionism that you can read about below:

There is no relation between nazism and soviet symbols. They are two entirely different ideologies. People saying nonsense like this is exactly why revisonist history in video games and elsewhere is a huge problem. And the Russians dont need to "destroy Europe", Europe is doing a great job of it itself with banning political parties and cancelling election results it doesnt like.

Can I blame them? Yes. Like I said, if they are going to remove everything "Russian" they should remove all mentions of the word "STALKER" and any references to roadside picnic, otherwise its just hypocritical. The point I am making is if you are going to remove all "Russianness", you either remove all of it or none of it.

Plus its simply historical revisionism, as alot of Soviet monuments were removed and Soviet symbolism, something Ukraine played a big role in creating btw

In addition, legally GSC has nothing to do with Ukraine and is a Czech company

The removal of Russian references is hugely ironic because STALKER itself is based on the book "Roadside Picnic" by the Brothers Strugatsky, who were outspokenly pro-Russian during the Soviet era. If they are gonna remove Russian things they might as well remove all mentions of the word STALKER because thats Russian too

Also i dont like that its not in Spanish/Portugese. I think that doin VO in Spanish/Portugese with subtitles would add to the atmosphere.

Its like playing Japanese games in English or Metro in English - it makes no sense
