Ah that seems to be true, i had the command and got the launcher to load and the window with the game would launch to black and then crash.

Anticheat works on desktop linux as well. You need the STEAM_DECK=1 %command% to get it to run

SteamOS-like Bazzite Linux has some nice growth thanks to great handheld PC support

My only hope is that proper SteamOS comes out and it will work fine on Nvidia.

Bazzite currently has problems with this imo

Shame this keeps happening. First the project lead of Asahi, now this.

But the "About Us" page of NLNET (or whatever its called) reads like something out of USAID. And we all know how that turned out

Quoting: Cato-the-youngerThe graphics look like they are done in UE4 and they look not too far off what we saw in Call of Pripyat.
Is this bait?

Quoting: Cato-the-youngerNext, the "difficulty". There should not be difficulty in this game - there wasnt in the previous ones.
All the past games had multiple difficulty settings, so yep, this is bait.
Not bait. The graphics dont look much better than Call of Pripyat. Lets pretend theyre better

Sounds like you didn't read anything I wrote.
I did.

The graphics look like they are done in UE4 and they look not too far off what we saw in Call of Pripyat.

Unlike the Xray engine, the shadows are not dynamic and do not change - they are baked in. The puddles look like static images and the physics of fluids makes drinks in the canteen look like molasses.

Next, the "difficulty". There should not be difficulty in this game - there wasnt in the previous ones. In addition, what you write about "saving often" is much more true for this game - this game is easy in comparison. The previous games made your heart beat and feel like you'll die at any moment, this game....well it feels like fallout 4 and not in a good way.

Add to that the post-Soviet atmosphere (that the previous games heavily played up and were heavily dependent on) is gone. Its a game meant for casuals new to the series

Also, the story is just bad. The previous games started off with an intriguing plot this is just a cheap hollywood knockoff meant for American audiences.

And the graphics are bad.

And its another ue5 slop game, sigh. Knew it would be a disappointment

More info on the Valve (Steam) collab with Arch Linux and potential future hardware support

Quoting: Code_EyeGreat for arch all around, but thinking what valve gets out of it. Steam vr os perhaps? As x86 isn't really feasible for a headset currently in terms of heat, battery life and hardware camera calculation support.
Valve is probably preparing for an ARM based steam deck. Considering you can already run steam games through ARM processors/Box86 and Nvidia, its a logical step for power efficiency, especially if Apple hasn't shown us anything.
The SteamDeck is now a success product, meaning that a bad release(like one damaged by increased incompatibility issues, due to ARM) can damage their brand.
I think they will grab something else like a SmartWatch or a vr device.
See the vid by Jeff geerling where he tests gaming on a 4090 on an ARM processor and box64. Some games dont work but most do. With Valves resources its only a matter of time until box64 is equivalent to rossetta

Quoting: TheRiddickNot really sure what the issue is since you can add non-steam games to Steam library and also run them with proton.
Convenience. Not having to do it manually through Heroic or so. Sure, it's only one or two extra steps, yet the less you need to do on your own, the easier.
Or just use PortProton, it does everything in one click including adding to steam.

Dont see the point of this. PortProton has been doing this for ages - I can use it to run proton, TKG builds, etc and download it all right from the app. It even let you run Ragnorok on day 1. It has alot of game specific fixes and configurations too
