Back in 1998 or so, this is probably the first point and click adventure game I played. I played it on a Mac Performa with Mac OS 8. It had a major sound glitch if you had virtual memory turned on. I guess I had better turn my swap partition off before playing it when it comes out :p

Another thing I notice from EA is that it's very easy for a customer to get the wrong idea with Early Access, even if the message is communicated clearly from the developer, they may not read it, or may misread it. For instance, if it's being released under EA for QA reasons the customer may wonder where all of the new features are. If it's intended as an early feature building campaign, customers can have expectations on what the game "will have", when in fact there are no plans to ever implement the ideas of that/those customer(s). Thus, if the game has an actual release the customer feels his expectations weren't met.
Probably many more things can be said... While it is possible, it seams very difficult to have a successful Early Access Campaign.
Thanks Simon for taking your time to write all of these responses :)

Quoting: SimonIt’s a massive drain on resources and the support load will drag out your development for years longer than you were expecting. This is something from a developer's perspective I've noticed/feared a lot. It's often stated how broken Early Access is from a customer perspective, but rarely from the developer's perspective. Thanks Simon for sharing your thoughts :)

Some thoughts on switching from Ubuntu to Antergos for Linux gaming

edit: It was being upgraded from 14.04 to 16.04, she saw the button to upgrade and pressed it. Now she has an unusable machine. "Never" would have been the better option in this case. I've personally had LTS upgrades break machines in the past. So, IMHO it's better to either nuke and pave or, since I'm not there to provide support, to just not allow the upgrade at all.

Quoting: tuubiIt was actually set to "LTS releases only", this is what caused the machine to break. :(Quoting: natewardawgAlso, I think from now on if I do put someone on Ubuntu I'm going to set the "Notify me of a new Ubuntu version:" to "Never".If you can't be there to provide support, just stick to LTS releases (or Mint, or even Debian stable). Doesn't sound like these users need all the latest bells and whistles anyway. That'll give them years of safe security updates and not much else.

My sister-in-laws laptop completely broke from trying to upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04 just yesterday. It wouldn't be such a big deal except that I live in Peru and she lives in the US. This doesn't mean I'll stop putting Ubuntu on people's laptops [edit: or desktops], but it's leaning that direction. Also, I think from now on if I do put someone on Ubuntu I'm going to set the "Notify me of a new Ubuntu version:" to "Never".

Quoting: Aryvandaar[...] and tbh I think that Ubuntu is more unstable than Arch and Manjaro.Speaking of which...

Some thoughts on switching from Ubuntu to Antergos for Linux gaming

So, it's not a false claim, I've personally experienced Manjaro being far more stable than the pure Arch(s) on multiple machines. The only real issue I've had with it is, of course, there is the occasional AUR package that I have to wait a week or two in order to install it due to packages being a little behind. Which for those if it's that important a person can usually switch Manjaro to use the unstable branch (which is typically in sync with Arch) to install that particular package, then switch back to the stable branch. But, I think I've had to do this once, maybe twice.
With all of this said, I would highly prefer to have a more pure Arch installed on this computer (which is why I have given it a chance on 4 or 5 occasions), but I just don't have time to dig around and find what's broken when I have far more important things to do with my day.
Probably when I get a new computer I'll give Antergos another try, and if it breaks I'll replace it with Manjaro again :)

Quoting: lelouchIt may be that I run updates literally every day, but I've had two Antergos installs break and an Apricity install break. Each of them lasted less than two months each. This is also without going crazy and tinkering with a bunch of stuff. On the exact same machine I can't remember Manjaro ever breaking on me except maybe once 3 or 4 years ago. I have Manjaro installed on two computers in my house and both of them are almost completely maintenance free.Quoting: natewardawgManjaro. It blends stability with bleeding edge, doesn't break as often as the more pure Arch(s)I don't like this false claim that "pure Arch(s)" break more often - or even ever break. It's just not true!

Welcome to Arch! :)
I'm personally a Manjaro user, however I've also rolled my own pure Arch install, used both Antergos and Apricity, and even dip my toes into the Ubuntu pool every few releases just to see how things are going, but for several years now I've found myself always going back to Manjaro. It blends stability with bleeding edge, doesn't break as often as the more pure Arch(s) and makes drivers super easy to install. However, if it were to go away Antergos would be next on my list.
It's probably a good time to get on Arch now that (AFAIK) both Gnome 3 and KDE 5 are going into stable mode for a while :)
Congrats and Enjoy!
