Quoting: pete910Why bother with a release this week only to release a point next:huh:No immediate reason, but it'd probably be a bad habit to get into.
Why not wait, incorporate the the patches that would have been in the point release and just do 23.2 ?

Well, releasing source must be getting pretty popular. I mean, if even The Ocean is doing it--
. . . Oh. Not what that meant, you say? But it says . . .

Godot Engine hits over 50K euros per month in funding

I think Godot shares some basic characteristics of Unity that (until now) made both of them more attractive to Indie developers than Unreal: It is I imagine fairly lightweight compared to Unreal, and it is cheaper. Unity cannot be trusted to be cheaper any more. But Unreal is also not cheaper than Unreal, and is unlikely to become cheaper than Unreal. And it remains probably heavy overkill for many sorts of games. So as indie developers leave Unity, and look around for something else that's cheaper and more lightweight than Unreal, there's a good chance they will conclude Unreal does not fit that category.
If Unreal release a cheaper, cut down version they might snag more of that action.

Quoting: RomlokAnd yeah, a lot of that will likely go to Unreal.I'm sure some will. But . . . of the people publicly angry with Unity and announcing that they are going to drop Unity in favour of something else, how many have announced they're going to Unreal?

Quoting: Nim8What's missing with shared source arrangements like Unreal Engine's, is enforcing reciprocal sharing, with copyleft licenses.Even non-copyleft licenses enforce reciprocal sharing in some ways, by allowing for forks, meaning that one entity does not maintain absolute control of the code. Shared source arrangements are fundamentally different from open source, even from the most "permissive" open source licenses. Mind you, I'm a copyleft fan myself.

That seems like a rather pallid Pro-DRM stance. Not an absolute one.

Quoting: poiuzNormally with people with an absolute Pro-DRM stance, you can't use whatever without the DRM stuff happening. But if I open a Steam game with the internet off, it whines but does not stop me. Note that something Steam-related is happening, and it would be easy enough for that something to be instead claiming I wasn't allowed to play my game without properly phoning home--but it doesn't. I could probably use a workaround to stop it from even whining, but the fact is that without doing anything I can still run my games without Steam.Quoting: wytrabbitI guess you're unaware that DRM free games that don't require any Steam services, can be launched outside of Steam... it's not illegalEven if that's true: That's not thanks to Valve. What does this change about Valve's absolute Pro-DRM stance?

Wow. It's kind of impressive when someone makes an excuse so bad they would have been clearly, definitively better off just ignoring the issue and saying nothing.
Actually gives me new respect for myself as a kid--often, when my parents were on my case about something I'd done that was kind of bad, and they'd be asking me why and stuff, I'd just stonewall and say nothing. And I'm realizing now that you know, trying to make excuses really would have been worse--my instincts weren't so bad.

Looking at that picture, the roll axis is clear, but which of pitch and yaw are which seems to kind of change depending how I look at it. One moment it looks like the Yaw stick goes down and the Pitch stick goes sideways, next it looks like the Pitch stick goes up and the Yaw stick goes sideways.
