Quoting: kaimanI'd have rather seen the Love and Lust event pack win first place, given how little time you'll spend as a child, if everything goes according to plan. And even less if it doesn't!

Quoting: morphlesStars! whatever the interface is f*n gold gem of a game! But sounds like this is not refreshment of that. One of the greatest things in stars was free travel (no stupid ass lanes :) between stars), construct able jump gates (aka ya feel like in Babylon 5) logistics (fuel and resources) that are probably best I have ever seen.Really sounds like someone should steal all that stuff and make it pretty.

I haven't really been looking at Steam itself much lately, just playing my games. But what I've noticed is that it used to be, if I double-click a game icon to start a game, Steam would start up, but just in the background--it would stay minimized. Now Steam starts up for real, you get a window and that sub-window telling you about events or sales or what. I don't have to get rid of them before I start playing my game, but I don't like clutter so I do. It's not a real problem but it's mildly annoying.

Quoting: fabertaweI really like the notes and browser in-game, it just came in very handy trying to work out how to do something while playing. Much better than quitting, looking it up, restarting etc.For a lot of games, wouldn't alt-tab work for that?

Quoting: SolarwingThis destroys competition very effectively. I'm smelling something bad here. Who'll get benefit here? Other bigger games studios. I wouldn't be surprised that this was meant to be from the beginning.... :sad:Doubt it. I mean, which is worse for competition, Embracer Group having to stop its takeovers and axe some studios now, or Embracer Group keeping on for a few more years of grabbing every indie in sight? And it may be good for some other big studios if Embracer Group falters (maybe--or maybe they're fine with fewer indies), but how do the top Embracer Group people make any money from that? Maybe someone like MS persuaded Embracer's backer to back out, but that's not a "planned from the beginning" thing.

If anything, I took the "just flaunting your equipment" comment as trying to defuse the situation by somewhat jokingly saying you weren't really meaning to slag on people who might like the game, you just wanted to show your cool stuff.

Quoting: IvancilloYou said "better" to do the real outdoor camera thing. Not just that you would prefer it, but that it is better. If one thing is "better", the other thing is "worse". I'm just saying, that's probably why some people didn't take the comment well, even if that wasn't your intent.Quoting: Purple Library GuyInviting people to experience other things the interlocutor thinks are good (may think the others would enjoy) it's not the same as insulting them for what they are doing now.Quoting: IvancilloWell, I think your original post did feel like you were saying "Anyone who likes games like this is an idiot who should be doing live camera work instead", and anyone who does like games like this might have been miffed by that.Quoting: EikeHello.Quoting: IvancilloI’m not rich, and had to save many months until I could purchase it second hand.I don't think any of the reactions was meant to make you feel bad.
When you have a hobby or a passion is usual you invest more money than you should.
In many gaming sites one could see in the user profiles descriptions of gaming rigs worth various thousand of euros.
Sorry if I don’t feel guilty for sharing a pic of my camera.
Do have fun with your hobby!
I follow this site since many years and do like to read your comments.
I'm not an English speaker, and could loose things in conversation.
But I find Lefl's comment as recriminative.
And I don't think I posted anything to annoy him (her?) and the rest who upvoted that comment.
So I (try to) explained myself.
Thanks for being reassuring.

Quoting: Mountain ManI already went over the definition issue in my first comment about that. Personally, I usually read someone's whole post before I start arguing with it, especially if it's just three lines long.Quoting: Purple Library GuyYou apparently define the term "feature" so broadly that literally anything can be considered a feature.Quoting: Mountain ManThey are. Introducing the automobile is introducing the traffic accident.Quoting: Purple Library GuyDepends what you mean. In the sense that it's a bug rather than a feature, sure. Or, in the sense that it's not "intended", OK.That's like saying that traffic accidents are a "feature" of automobiles.
In the sense that a "feature of X" is something that inevitably goes with it . . . yeah, it's a feature of capitalism.
