Stellaris Cosmic Storms expansion will launch September 10

I wasn't really looking for new Stellaris content, haven't digested all the old stuff yet. And I'm not sure this will be a great thing in terms of how it plays. But I have to admit, this is something different and interesting; I don't remember anything like this in any other game in the genre.

Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered
As kind of an Asterix fan, now I'm wondering what the heck this is.

Steam store pages are about to get a lot cleaner, Valve puts an end to game advert spam

Quoting: SchattenspiegelTo be honest I do not care how the publishers clutter "their" product page. It is their loss if they annoy me when i try to buy their product. What I do care about, though, is that there still is no official option to remove the "news" section from "MY" library page... :(
There's a news section? I think my brain has, over many years, gotten almost too good at not noticing all the ads and various other crap that clutters all the pages I look at on the internet.

Seems neat.
I wondered, from the mention of hibernation, but I wasn't clear until I watched the trailer that you are also a frog in this.

Ex-Blizzard devs new RTS 'Stormgate' out in Early Access, works on Linux but may need a small fix

I went to the Steam page and there's three tiers of paid. There's like "Early Access Pack", "Deluxe Early Access Pack" and "Ultimate Early Access Pack". The basic one gives you one hero and one chapter of the campaign. The middle one gives you two more heroes and no extra content. The top one gives you two more chapters and another hero as yet unspecified. They all also have little bits of bling.

So basically, if you want any content you really have to pay through the nose for the top tier.

Sand in a Box is a fresh modern 'falling sand' playground out now on Steam

Definitely a sandbox game, huh.
So having watched the trailer and only then read the bottom bit of the article, I'm feeling oddly reassured that I found the trailer music really irritating.

Quoting: ahoneybunAfter trying out a tablet with Linux (GNOME and Plasma) I have to say they all need some work but mostly with the OSK. ChromeOS has the best keyboard since it can also be split and floating which is great for using the system. I want to see more products like this with Linux but we really need to address these issues.
Mind you, with something like this I don't think you'd use the screen keyboard much. It has a real one, if you're going to be typing you just fold it the other way.
With it folded or in tent mode how would you use the keyboard?
I'm saying you wouldn't type in those modes--the whole point of having it also as a laptop is that when you want to type, you'd use it as a laptop not a tablet.

Certain Steam Deck plugins via Decky Loader are causing bootloops
8 Aug 2024 at 8:28 pm UTC

Quoting: AAGamingWe've fixed this in the latest prerelease (v3.0.0-pre8), broken plugins shouldn't be able to cause bootloops anymore. It was caused by an extremely hard to find race condition in a new feature of @decky/ui (previously decky-frontend-lib)
Oh good, that seems like a much more robust fix than trying to vet the plugins.

System76 desktop environment COSMIC alpha now available to try

Quoting: JarmerThis is so exciting! Been keeping my eye on this forever. I very much look forward to trying it out. Might boot up a live usb later tonight if I have the time. I think we desperately need some new blood in the de space
This is such an amazingly Linux thing to say. Consider--if you use Windows or Mac, you use the single DE that comes with it--not only do you have no choice, the very concept that there could be a choice does not exist. But we Linux users are so spoiled we can be saying "Oh, the bunch of choices we have are getting a bit long in the tooth, it was about time there was a new contender or two!"
Just to be clear, this is a happy thing.
