EA Anti-Cheat arrives for Battlefield 1 breaking it on Steam Deck / Linux

What I don't understand is why are these companies so hostile towards Linux? It seems completely illogical for late stage capitalist corporations to turn away potential earnings no matter how small when their investors demand endless growth.

Factorio 2.0 and Factorio: Space Age DLC are out now

I just don't get the appeal in these games. I tried one and it was just way too stressful, ended up refunding it.

Quoting: Eike
Quoting: Leahi84I don't have a Steam deck myself as I'm not a fan of portable gaming at all (Don't even play games on my Pixel phone) and don't want to play games unless its on my PC, but I'm glad for my nephew who hasn't been able to get one down there yet.
I wouldn't even ponder the idea of playing with my phone. But having a small Linux PC to play on the sofa or in the bed on the other hand...
I guess in addition I prefer the high end graphics and resolution my PC and 1440 monitor gives me, so it's just not interesting to me to play that stuff in a smaller screen with graphics turned down. To each their own.

Internet Archive hit with DDoS attacks and hacked with 31 million accounts hit

Still though, most of the IA's works are a massive benefit to all of humanity and attacking them like this is really terrible. It kinda reminds me of those idiots who glue themselves to paintings to protest climate change, and I wonder if all of them are just false flag operators trying to discredit the cause they claim to be championing. ...Maybe I just played too much Deus Ex.
What... This is a thing?? This is the first I've heard of it. Good god that sounds ridiculous and infuriating. The last thing we need is people discrediting something that will lead to the extinction of humans.

Yeah, my account was one of the millions stolen. I made the account a long while back to upload something. Just really sucks. They are already at risk for being shut down permanently due to the lawsuits, so they just didn't need this at all. They probably don't have the resources to defend this kind of attack or improve their security much.

Descent 3: Piccu Engine is a new open source build focused on quality-of-life improvements

I loved Descent and Descent II back in the day when they came out. I bought Descent 3 back then but couldn't get it working on my Pentium 2 PC, even though I had a Voodoo 2. I never had luck even getting it to run relatively recently, so I'm very grateful to the guy who released the source code that allowed these projects. I can finally play it!

OpenRazer v3.9 released with many new Razer devices supported on Linux

Quoting: Xpander
Quoting: StellaI don't use Razer personally because I'm not convinced of the quality of their products. But this does seem really nice, wish there was something similar for Logitech and Asus
Its not very nice. openrazer only supports RGB stuff, DPI settings, Polling rate and some other fluff, but the main feature is missing. Custom keybinds, layers etc.

I own a razer basilisk v2, its decent mouse, but build quality isn't the greatest, the rubber on it started to fade quite fast and scrollbar rubber grip is sometimes slipping a bit, but i can at least adjust the resistance of the scrollwheel and mouse is quite comfortable in hand.
Yeah. I recently got a new mouse and had been considering a Razer until I found out that you cant change the bindings. Was really disappointed. I ended up getting a Logitech G203 gaming mouse instead, which I have been very happy with.

Halo will now be built on Unreal Engine 5, 343 Industries rebrands to Halo Studios

I played Halo 2 SO freaking much when it came out. Was on there day and night in online matches on my original Xbox. I played Halo 3 but then lost interest after that. I haven't played Halo in well over a decade.

China continues rising on the Steam Survey with Linux now at 1.87%

Why are there so many Chinese users on Steam? I thought they have their own version created for the Chinese market?
