It's vaguely interesting, but not enough to sacrifice one of the very limited USB ports for. If they'd added an internal header for it on the GabeCube, then I'd be a lot less concerned about the end results.

Seems like they may have a serious audio problem on Deck right now. I'd fully expect at least one more hotfix release soon.

This is a great idea, and I'd love to see something like that for console games too. A complete "upcoming games" list based around your personal tastes. Only problem would be finding a way to maintain privacy; way too easy to fall into the trap of selling user data.

The market hasn't been the same since they went out of business so long ago, so it's nice to see Microprose back in business and publishing heavy simulations again.

I'd definitely prefer to be able to filter offtopic but keep all languages in the final scoring, but I guess being in the USA it's not exactly a huge problem if it defaults to limiting things to English since most reviews I see will be in English anyway.

Good timing on the article; I was just wondering what was happening with this game.

This is the sort of project where I'd normally wait until things settle just a little.
I don't have a problem with running beta (or sometimes even alpha software) but if the level of code churn is this high and the level of stability is this low, bleeding edge code means you'll be the one doing the bleeding. You start to get a sense for these sorts of things over time, when to just sit back and give it another week to month before playing with it.

Happy birthday! I can't help but bet that Proton and the Deck were major nexus points in making this site less niche and more mainstream, and I hope things will continue to improve for years to come.
Not to say you haven't earned it, though-- content is always king, and you've definitely done well in creating reasons for all of us to keep coming back. I have no doubt THAT will continue for years to come, either!

Picking one favorite would be incredibly tough.
Mega Man 2, Contra, Castlevania, Akumajou Densetsu (okay, it's Famicom, but that counts..), Life Force/Salamander, Ninja Gaiden 2.. there's quite a bit of good games on the old beast.

You already CAN use Proton outside of Steam. There's nothing actually stopping you, there's nothing enforcing it to run from Steam or anything of the like.
The only thing preventing it from wider use outside of Steam is the relative lack of third party launchers that support using Proton.
Heroic does support it outside of Steam now, and I believe you can use Umu as a launcher from Lutris.
