Very nice game! with two big free expansions! You get tired of playing after a few days but you can always come back. There's a huge variety in weapons and items.

Thoughts on the Corsair STRAFE RGB Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Silent Switches

I have a CoolerMaster QuickFire TK since years, but just today I bought an Atreus42, like this:

I wanted to try vertical staggering, and I want a really portable keyboard because QuickFire is a heavy. Also I like the idea to not have numbers row because that row make me always look the keyboard.

Quoting: ElectricPrismI also dig the Vortex Race 3, but I'm not sure if I want to get a keyboard without the Insert key as it's handy in VIM
On vim press 'i' and you don't need Insert.

The developer of rogue-lite metroidvania action-platformer 'Dead Cells' is working on the Linux version

Rogue-lite, metroidvania
So, like a very black sort of white? Or maybe a wet kind of dry.

In my mind rogue-anything and metroidvania are so opposite that they should co-annihilate in a puff of gamma radiation when brought close together.
In my opinion, roguelike (always turn based) is not compatible with Castlevania (Vampire Killer) or Metroid, but roguelite it is!

In roguelite you have permadeath but you use to have better objects or more money or some change on your character that makes progression on next try more easy. Think on Risk of Rain or Rogue Legacy. Rogue Legacy play is quite metroidvania, but instead of three lives, you have one, but each time you play you will be more prepared and you will explore more. In Metroid / Super Metroid you are more prepared at next try because you found a new gun...

I know this could be and endless discussion, but think on those games, and think the way you uncover the map and find more clues (Risk of Rain / Super Metroid) to advance in the world. Randomization of levels is also something that share roguelites and Dead Cells.

So, they are not so different IMHO.

Here’s a look at some good FPS games available on Linux & SteamOS

Hi all. I don't want to simply action kill humans. I want a story or RPG like Half Life 2. Also it will be great it it can be played (like HL2) in an Intel HD4000 and not fast-paced.

Any recommendation?

Thanks a lot for the article and for answering ;)

TINY METAL, a "spiritual successor" to Advance Wars has plans for a Linux version

This seems very nice. I never played Advance Wars, but I'm waiting FTL developers to publish: Into the Breach http://ftlgame.com/itb.html [External Link]

FTL was so good, so they have my preference!.

Quoting: xaviI love metroidvanias, when I was a kid I played a lot Vampire Killer on the MSX, that was the precursor of Castlevania.
Cool, someone who had MSX,too! Where are you from? Not too many people had one here in Germany...

Interestingly, I wasn't into Metroidvania even back then. I stopped Vampire Killer after some minutes, but loved e.g. Metal Gear or Maze of Galious.
Hello, I'm from Barcelona. I have an MSX, MSX2 and MSX2+ (a group of 50 people imported them from japan). I also still have my Atari 2600 console.

That games were amazing, like all the Konami games of the era, specially for MSX2.

Games nowadays are two much kill-people oriented. There's one game called La Mulana that is supposed to be inspired on Maze of Galious and you find MSX cartridges on the game... but they made a new version and all the MSX stuff were removed... reading this I never player it.

There's a Maze of Galious remake, I played years ago and was so good: http://www.braingames.getput.com/mog/ [External Link]
Linux version, of course: http://www.braingames.getput.com/mog/ [External Link]
I remember being all the summer trying to find the door on one of the top corners of the castle. Nowadays we have not that patience.

The share of Linux users on Steam is still holding steady
3 Jul 2017 at 12:14 pm UTC

About the FOSS discussion in Linux games and steam, in my opinion there are two free-software enthusiastic positions:

1) All have to be free software.
2) All the software that allows people to do things (operating system, office, accounting, drawing, painting...) has to be free because it allows people to do create and improve society without restrictions. In the other hand, games, films, music... don't need to be free because it's something consumed directly but not used for any other creation purposes.

I'm a free software developer and most of my computer life I've been in 1) and now I'm on the middle of 1) and 2). Being in 1) is not a problem, you could play Brogue a lot :)

Quoting: sn0rlaxI picked up Salt & Sanctuary and Hollow Knight, among others. Really getting into metroidvania, about 15 years late.

S&S is the best game I've played on Linux. It might be the best game I've played, period. And I didn't care for Dark Souls.
I love metroidvanias, when I was a kid I played a lot Vampire Killer on the MSX, that was the precursor of Castlevania. I was thinking on which of both games play. Hollow Knight or Salt & Sanctuary, the second seemed different for the RPG mechanics...

But finally I bought Darkest dungeon and I'm enjoying it a lot. I think the clue is to be conservative, play without high risks and the all is more relaxed, easy to win, collect stuff, and arrive at town almost without stress (I'm in my first 10 hours). This way I find it more relaxing.

By the way, I have an Intel T430u laptop with Intel HD 4000 graphics and I'm tired on lots of games saying (like Darkest dungeon): "Intel Integrated not supported".... but it works perfect. Also it says 1080p minimum, and plays perfect at 1366x768. Right now I'm playing it with a monitor at bigger resolution, but I started with the laptop screen with no problem at all. Why they don't say: "Not tested with Intel integrated cards"... instead of "Not supported".
