played a round of Lexispell (fun, but lacking depth and variety in demo form), Scope Creep to the demo's end (simple incremental game with a good theme IMO), and EvoCreo 2 until 3 evolutions and completion of the available quests (twist on classic pokemon games with a slightly more involved energy/ability system). I'll have to check out some of these other popular demos.

Root App and Stoat Chat (formerly Revolt Chat) are the two that seem most comparable to me. somehow Root App isn't even listed on AlternativeTo (also who is handling UI/design over there, what a mess). Stoat seems like it's having growing pains. just heard of Root for the first time today and it looks like Discord for more seriously structured gaming communities, but I'm guessing you can ignore/avoid/disable those features for a very Discord-like experience. I'll be testing and sharing with my friends this week in case we decide to jump ship away from Discord.

amazing game, have it on Steam and iOS, few hundred hours clocked on my save file. super deep theory crafting of Rube Goldberg-esque team compositions to cause chain reactions for start of battle one-shots or exponential damage scaling or near invulnerability. strongly recommend for anyone that likes creature-collecting turn-based RPGs.

there was a reddit discussion not long ago looking for Playnite alternatives. lots of people liked Cartridges and Pegasus Frontend; both are available on FlatHub and GitHub.
