Forsaken Castle is a Castlevania-inspired platformer that’s being crowdfunded, has a demo available
17 May 2017 at 1:57 am UTC

Ok I just played through the Demo and I think it does show some promise. The controls feel good enough (although I had to play with my Keyboard because a lot of Unity games mess up the bindings on the Dualshock 4 and I couldn't use custom binds in this game) but I gotta say I REALLY miss the backdash from the igavania games although the sprint button is welcome.

Also some of the enemy AI isn't perfect yet and the bosses wheren't that impressive. The first one is just an axe knight and a major pushover and the second boss just teleports around the room and spams homing skulls which only despawn when you hit them with your whip which is pretty annoying if they gang up on you.

What I'd also love to see is some enemy death animations because right now every enemy just puffs into a purple smoke cloud when you kill them.

All that said it's just an Early Alpha and if they iron out some of the flaws this could be a really good metroidvania game.

BallisticNG, a racer inspired by Wipeout has unstable builds for Linux on Steam

Quoting: MightyTrollzorIt is really fun if you like Wipeout since it plays exactly the same as the old wipeout titles. I hope this game won't get copyright striked by sony now that it is on steam
Very similar or even pretty much exactly the same gameplay isn't a copyright violation, as long as no art or IP is copied directly from the original. I understand all art, tracks, names and such are original in this game.
I am aware that this is not violating any copyright law (as long as sony doesn't patent any game mechanics of the wipeout series) but it wouldn't be the first time a publisher claims rights to some independent artists work, getting the artist to remove said work because they can't afford a lawsuit from a publisher which in turn has more than enough money for a ton of lawyers and legal expenses.

The patent/copyright-systems are exploitable as hell and I am always concerned that a project that gets as close to its "inspiration" vanishes because of false accusations. Even more so since the developer behind ballisticNG made its git-repo private to keep possible cheaters from exploiting the source code to get advantages in online multiplayer.

BallisticNG, a racer inspired by Wipeout has unstable builds for Linux on Steam

Quoting: GuestHaha, it’s more than inspired by Wipeout, it looks like an absolute clone :)! Which is great if you like Wipeout, but it’s too hard for me.
I thought the same when I saw this and took a look at its origins. Appearantly this started as a complete remake/remaster of Wip3out made in unity. The Developer released the first versions to the wipeoutzone forum.
In that forum thread you can see that the developer thought Wipeout was abandonware (it isn't Sony still holds the rights) and made some changes to ships names and textures since to avoid copyright problems.
The game still supports the original ships from the psx wipeout games, you just have to copy them from the original CDs into ballisticngs ship folders.

It is really fun if you like Wipeout since it plays exactly the same as the old wipeout titles. I hope this game won't get copyright striked by sony now that it is on steam

Just a heads up, PAYDAY 2 is currently broken again on Linux

seems to run again after another 1.9 gig patch (at least the safehouse does). I also found a mod that enables coop with windows users even with the downgraded linux version (just search in the linux subforum of the payday2 discussions on steam)

Sure about that? because after the 11 gig update it also shows me the "new safehouse" message. The game itself seems to work but going to the safehouse makes it crash.
Well, I could not join any lobby hosted by my friends. They had version 1.5.14 and I had 1.5.10, according to the "game.ver" file in the game's main directory.
Your'e right I can only join lobbys of other linux users. probably because of the rollback.
my version on the title screen says 1.1.1 for some reason- game.ver says 1.55.10.

Bombernauts, bomberman for mental people now on Linux & SteamOS
21 Dec 2015 at 12:40 pm UTC

Already got that game gifted a long time ago. It got a quite steep learning curve for a party game. The hardest thing to get used to is the camera which behaves a bit too weird for my taste. The game can still be lots of fun especially if you play with some friends. Our teamspeak always devolves into of people screaming, laughing and spewing obscenities when bombernauts is played. One of the problems is that the userbase is really small. Usually its just me and my friends and sometimes one other server but hey, maybe GoL might fix that a bit. Also playing on Saturdays is recommended because of the Saturday special which makes this game even more crazy with some new gamemode / modifier.

OlliOlli2 Welcome To Olliwood Has Been Fixed Up, Gamepads Now Work Properly

I started playing olliolli2 on my psvita recently. To my surprise it is a pretty addicting game. All tricks are made by doing Streetfighter 2 specialmove like motions on the left analogue stick. I can't even imagine how to play this game with a keyboard. Good that they fixed that.

Feral Interactive Are Behind The Batman: Arkham Knight, GRID Autosport And Company Of Heroes 2 Linux Ports
11 Mar 2015 at 6:21 pm UTC

The only thing bothering me is that they are doing both OSX and Linux ports. that might mean lower performance and worse looks than the windows version because in the past those ports have always been limited to OpenGL 2 or 3 (e.g. Metro last light) might not be too bad for a strategy game like CoH2 but Batman and GRID could suffer from not utilizing OpenGL 4.0+.

I might be wrong, maybe OSX does support OpenGL 4.X by now i have no clue about macs but like i said i'm a bit concerned.
