Quoting: pleasereadthemanualLlvm is the official one, although there is an alternative gcc frontendQuoting: MaelraneI think I got confused after learning gcc (or llvm) was a dependency of rustc.Quoting: pleasereadthemanualRust just compiles to C in the end.Ahem, no, it does not. It uses LLVM or Cranelift, but C is not an intermediate format. You can get a C memory layout with #[repr(C)] but that's about it.

Proton is awesome technology and I love that it exists, but the moment it was announced and proven to work, it was clear that developers would go the path of least resistance and drop native Linux support.
I love what Feral and ... forgot the studios name ... did in the past, but I haven't seen a native port of any AAA game for years. (not to say that City Skylines is a triple A title)
Even if Linux market share increases I doubt that there will be a lot of native games in the coming years. Proton just works and is Good Enough (TM).

Quoting: geekeningDid they say why CS:II doesn't have a native Linux build this time? I purchased and played the first one exclusively on Linux. Disappointed by this news :(To be fair though: It was crystal clear that this would happen with the advent of Proton.

My biggest bane is still open, no browser-docks on wayland, due to CEF upstream: https://github.com/obsproject/obs-browser/issues/279 [External Link] :(
OBS Studio 27.2 is out bringing Flatpak support and much more

The one thing that is missing for me at the moment are browser docks on wayland. Problem was in CEF <-> obs-studio protocol due to (basically) window handles being wayland (obs-studio wayland) or x11 (CEF), so maybe there is hope that this will at some day land :/
I am fulltime on wayland for over 2 years now and I love it, but that's the one thing that annoys the hell out of me. I am done with starting i3 just for streaming everytime though, so I have the chat in a different window next to obs :/

Quoting: NagezahnAlso I'm a bit worried about performance. If there are "30.000 individual and complex inhabitants" to be simulated with all the interactions, that is not an easy task.Let's wait and see. I imagine an Actor system being used and then this seems totally possible. (See e.g. https://aeplay.org/citybound [External Link] which features *millions* of individuals - although that's made in Rust. But I don't see why it shouldn't be possible to do it in a JVM language)

How can you even install it? It says "Is already in your steam library", well it's not under "Games" (unfiltered) and not under "hidden"... and "Play now" just says: "An error... (invalid platform)" :(

I am not kidding, I was about to buy the game the next couple of days. Actually I wanted to last week, but then I was so focused on other things (among them XCOM 2 WotC), that I postponed.
What a bummer now! :(
