Quoting: maodzedunAnybody with AMD tried it?
Bought it a few minutes ago, but my internet is horribly slow here, so it will take some time until I can give you a report. But if you want to wait a few days, I can get back here (I would try before Friday, 17th ;))

Dying Light Reviewed On Linux, What I Really Think

Actually I had preferred it if the game was even more open and the whole campaign could've been removed in my book. For me it was the worst part of the game as it was a run-of-the-mill story which was nothing but predictable.
Don't get me wrong, there were some (a few) interesting characters but most of it was absolute cliché and there was not a single twist that made me cry out in surprise. The main characters were absolute cliché (one [cute] girl and a though one at that, her brother who is too eager to prove himself, a savior and dozens and dozens of bad guys running errands for one crazy bad overlord.

The city and most of the gameplay is actually gorgeous, but as was said in the article the zombies are no real threat - which is kind of lame - and the crafting was better in Dead Island.

Personally I think there could've been a few small improvements and some larger ones, like for example it would've been great if the normal zombies would be far more dangerous (at least in the night) but not that many Volatiles, instead those of them being out there not being marked on the map and stuff like that.

Quoting: tmtvlAs someone with an AMD card believe me, the OS driver isn't nearly as good as some people claim it is.
X-COM:EU/EW locks the GPU. Anything even remotely taxing will run like a car with cubic wheels.

EDIT: For who is curious: AMD Radeon HD 7770 Cape Verde.
Must be your machine, as I can run this game just fine on my HD 6950 with Mesa on Archlinux.
Actually I run pretty much everything apart from Natural Selection 2 (doesn't work since many months on Mesa), Dead Island and Dying Light fine, which I play on Windows for the time being.

Steam Has An Updated Subscriber Agreement

I wonder tho, why one has to resign one's right for a refund upon payment and not upon downloading the game.

What if I buy a game for somebody (or even myself for that matter) and then decide "Ah, ditch it, not gonna play it anyway." It was never downloaded (=delivered) and never opened (=installed).

Another thing would be sales. If a game is going on sale during that two weeks and if you have not downloaded it yet, you could get a refund and...

well, welcome to coorporate dystopia, where the only thing that matters is your money, never your satisfaction :(

XCOM: Enemy Within expasion
I can only recommend it. I bought it at full price after Enemy Unknown blew my mind last summer, just to show my support.
It's an amazing addon and adds another bunchload of cool tech and stuff.

If you have only played the original Enemy Unknown, please consider buying the expansion!

Quoting: GuestValve hasn't infinite resources too but they still support the three major platforms.
Ya, well, to be fair tho, valve has access to many more resources than a small, (more or less) no-name team ;)

The thing that really stinks here is the attitude "promise first, then take it back".

If they'd said they are gonna evaluate or a simple "no", I wouldn't be mad at them, not at all. In fact I'm not mad now, I just wont buy anything from them :)

I believe that with open source as well. If the product is good you can make a lot of money out of it (see Redhat ;))

Quoting: edoHe is right. Maybe in a future it will make sense for them
Well, of course. But why state the opposite before? Couldn't they have said this from the very beginning without getting our hopes up? Or were they betting on some people to buy the game on an empty promise?

I have absolutely NO problem if they say "Sorry, we are a small team, we simply can't afford a linux port at the moment, as it wont pay off" but stating they are working on one and then suddenly changing their opinion seems very, very unprofessional.

(I'd think about that, even as a windows customer!)

Is it better to have engineers and producers focus on new cool content for the current customers or to have the Linux version ?
Oh, wow, what a typically rhetoric and politic question.

To be honest, I don't really care. No tux, no bux. Easy as that. I'm truly living by that example for well over a year now and I don't regret it at all.

If there is a "promise" (ahem, Contagion anyone) for a Linux-version *someday* I'll simply wait for *someday* until you see any of my hard earned bucks!
