Only question that remains: Is it a native port? :)
edit: Ya, well I forgot... Chrome Engine 6 has native linux support, hasn't it? So, question answered. (+ I'm a moron for asking -.-)

There are some rules that are really not meant to be broken.
I, for one, will not preorder it. I really liked Dead Island and I will definitely support them in the future, but some virtual item will not get me into that cage again.

The problem I see witn eon-ports is not the eon-technology itself, but what it *could* do to other developers. I have no problem with eon, but I prefer a native port for obvious reasons. So while I think it's cool that eon is there and can be used to port older games over, I fear that it might make developers/managers shrug and say:
"A Linux port? Well, we'll cover that later, thanks to eon... just focus on windows for now".
That's where the problem lies in my eyes. As with most things it's actually not a technical one, but a social one.
I hope this is not considered to be a "heated comment", but as the article itself asked a few (methaphorical) questions, I wanted to answer them here for myself :)

Dying Light From Techland Has A Little Hint About Linux Support

I see it like "extended cinema". If I go to the cinema I pay for viewing a movie exactly one time. With a DRM game (that doesn't cost much more, especially if you consider the hours you'll get out of the game before the DRM [in case of a platform like steam] cripples you and hinders you to play [okay bad point if you buy the game a few hours before steam closes its ports forever ;)] I think it's pretty okay.
Sure, I prefer non-DRM and I pay the full price to show my gratitude, but I also buy steam-games. It never happened that I couldn't play a game anymore and if it happens and it's a really dear one to me, I'll find a way :)

Quoting: throgh*sigh* Just another game being published through propietary platform with big DRM and when somebody's account is locked the possibility to use the license playing the game is gone. So: Not really worth even if the game itself seems to be nice at all. :dizzy:I must admit, while I absolutely do see your point, I accept Steam as DRM. I never buy any DRM games at full price. Which means, they lose money with the DRM (from me), but they still get money for the game.

Would be great if it actually was Dishonored. Started to play that pearl, then got rid of Windows entirely and it's one of the very few games that don't play well under Wine for me. So Dishonored would be really epic!

Actually this could be my cup of tea, but of course I'll wait.
On the other hand, I've so many survival games in my library right now. Not sure if it's really a good move to wait for yet another :D

Quoting: ShmerlI guess its not Aspyr´s decision. If the "base game" used to be coupled to Steam the port will be also, because else there could be legal problems.Quoting: SeredIf the game itself needs Steam to function and you define Steam as DRM, then these games not DRM-free, no.I don't think their games should need Steam to function (in theory), but they don't let you install them without Steam. I have no idea whether they also use Steamworks at runtime.

Quoting: zimplex1"real life photo"? Man, do I need a new keyboard or videocard for that, or what? I can't find any of my games or key-configurations to capture something like this. :(Quoting: zed888The textures are better because that's a real life photo... Not a screenshot from a game.Quoting: Stupendous ManBioshock. I haven't played it, but from the few YouTube videos I've seen of it, the style is very similar to the above picture.Style is similar, but I don't think so. I don't remember that scene, and the textures are nicer.
