Currently rocking the 7800x3d cpu. Pretty happy with it. It's one of those rare unicorn CPUs because it combined the best value and nearly the best performance, while defeating Intel easily in almost everything. I haven't regretted my purchase at all. I just wish all CPU purchases were this way.

To be fair, the party had to end eventually. Fortnite engagement couldn't last forever, and Epic's gonna have to either A. learn to live with the lower profit and try to create some smaller games, or B. try to outdo Fortnite with another one hit wonder cash generator, and good freaking luck with that one.
Lutris now being built with Claude AI, developer decides to hide it after backlash

And yes, him being acutely aware of how others feel and think about Ai probably does play a part in his attitude and seeing how people have reacted so far, I'd say his feeling aren't entirely unwarranted.

Quoting: EvanjellionI don't agree. I haven't thoroughly looked into this but if the only thing he's obfuscating is Claude attribution then that's massively exaggerating the severity of the situation.Quoting: CreepioAnother thing I wanted to quickly say is that, the Lutris dev mentioned he has depression and he's using Claude as a way to stay motivated to continue working on his project (my interpretation of things). He's doing this to try to make more progress on something that otherwise risks becoming abandonware, and right now I feel like he's being bullied for using AI. He felt bullied so he removed the claude attribution, and then he felt bullied again so he put it back. And now after reading a few comments here, I see people are canceling their Patreons over this. Bizarre. I don't know what the end-game is here. If being bullied is going to be the result of using AI, I question if applying any AI attribution in the first place is the right answer. This situation affects how I will choose to go about doing things in the near future if I plan to release any software. It's hard to find the motivation to do anything when you're depressed, I can understand the decision to use AI to make his workflow easier. It's more so the way he responded to everything that I think is the problem.
He seems to have known that people would react negatively to AI code, and his decision to deliberately hide what's hand-made and what's AI and say "lol good just finding the code now" is just a really bad look. For one thing, as the initial article states, it makes it hard to trust what he puts out. It's also just kind of antithetical to the whole idea of open source projects when you're obfuscating code. He may have reversed his decision, but the damage is already done.
And yes, him being acutely aware of how others feel and think about Ai probably does play a part in his attitude and seeing how people have reacted so far, I'd say his feeling aren't entirely unwarranted.

I don't have a problem with people using AI to assist with them building a program. I just take issue with AI being used to generate slop in videogames, movies, entertainment products in general that take away jobs from artists and voice actors/actresses. For instance, I don't have a problem buying a piece of software or using a piece of software that was almost entirely AI written, but I refuse to pay money to go see a movie that was almost entirely designed with AI. I see programming as something that will be drastically improved by AI over time and can put useful tools in peoples hands, whereas AI generated slop that is infiltrating every aspect of the entertainment industry simply hurts most people. I prefer to see humans being human in creative works, not AI pretending to be human in creative works. I know it might seem like I've created a double standard but I genuinely do not feel that way about this. There are real uses for AI and programming is one of them. It is going to take away jobs from talented programmers, but the invention of refrigerators did the same to the ice trade. There's **always** going to be a desire for humans to want to see real humans in movies/tv shows, but hardly anybody cares if AI generated the functions running in the background of their software.

I think the principle of what I'm saying is, I wish they would sell games forever, and at the very least, if they don't want to sell them forever, they should still be completely or almost completely functional. I don't understand why they won't just sell the games forever.

Quoting: pbYeah, I guess you're right. And to add further insult to injury, I can't even buy DiRT 3 from Steam anymore. So, yeah. I gave a bad example. Sorry about that.Quoting: CreepioI still play Dirt 3. It runs perfectly on the Steam Deck and provides loads of fun even to this day. I cannot say the same for many modern racing titles. I waited years for Forza Horizon 4 to reach a reasonable price, but by the time I was ready to buy it, it had already been pulled from the store. What is the point of waiting for a game to be affordable only for it to be killed at the six-year mark? It's absolutely not the same. FH4 still works well as of today, including online features such as pvp races and eliminator game mode. The only exception is that they killed the festival playlists, effectively making some of the achievements impossible to unlock, which is a bummer. Anyway, delisting a game from the store because the licences expired is absolutely not the same as making the game not launch after the servers are shut down.

I absolutely hate the idea of buying racing games anymore because I know they will inevitably be delisted. Why should I spend $60 to $120 on a game to have "all the bells and whistles" when the developer plans to stop selling it before the decade is even out?
I find it very difficult to justify rewarding this type of anti-consumer behavior. I would much rather a game use indefinite licensing deals, or even feature fictional cars and original music, than for "limited licensing" to be used as a justification for killing a product. Ultimately, licensing is just a secondary excuse for the primary driver: greed.

Lenovo Legion Go 2 will get a SteamOS version in June

TL;DR: Legion Go 2 is good, but it's not a perfect system and it's way overpriced. I think it'll be even better with SteamOS or Bazzite.
Elaborate response (sorry for the wall of text):
My brother got the Lenovo Legion Go 2, and while it is absolutely overpriced, it is a very capable system. I had to increase the VRAM in the BIOS and choose a quieter fan preset because, even when completely idle, that thing is obnoxiously loud.
For my use case, I primarily use it to cloud-stream games to the living room TV. It easily handles 120Hz, 4K, and HDR; it’s absolutely beautiful, and I cannot complain at all.
Where I’ve had major issues is using the Handheld Companion software. I tried to get the system to emulate a PS4 controller so I could use Steam Input and Gyro, but I’ve been plagued with so many issues that I eventually gave up. To get it working, I had to disable the included Lenovo software and some obscure system processes, then try to become a guru at Handheld Companion itself. It’s a massive time sink, and I’m not entirely sure it’s worth the effort.
As for handheld mode, it is definitely comfortable due to the ergonomic improvements Lenovo made. However, because of its weight and the fact that the buttons, D-pad, and joysticks are aligned semi-vertically, it can become quite fatiguing to hold for long periods.
The lack of dual trackpads makes the desktop experience frustrating. Without them, I can’t type easily and am stuck using the on-screen keyboard, which is a poor experience.
That said, the screen on the Legion Go 2 is stunning. The peak brightness, HDR, colors, clarity, resolution, and refresh rate are all incredible. It’s a phenomenal screen in every possible way - a solid 5/5.
I want to install Bazzite or SteamOS on it, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. Overall, it’s a great system. It is definitely not worth the full asking price, but if you do decide to bite the bullet and get it, I think you will enjoy it, albeit you need a LOT of patience because as of the time of writing this, it only has Winblows. I haven’t tested the Xbox fullscreen experience yet because I heard it was bricking some systems, and that was enough to scare me off. I am a "shy tinkerer" - I like my stuff to work, and since this is my brother’s device, I’m even more wary.
I still love my Steam Deck OLED and prefer it over the Legion Go 2, but once I put SteamOS or Bazzite on the Lenovo, I suspect the experience will rapidly improve.

It just keeps getting worse - Firefox to "evolve into a modern AI browser"

I switched to Waterfox a year ago and I've never looked back. Best decision I've ever made.
I did a lot of research too before settling on it. I wanted a browser that has feature parity with regular Firefox, but doesn't add a crap ton of unnecessary extras. I just want Firefox, but without the crap. That's Waterfox.
I've seen people recommend brave and all these other different browsers, but that's just chromium. Waterfox doesn't try to give you a bunch of extra stuff you don't want.
I've only ever had like, one website mess up with it, and I had to use a user agent switcher to make it think I was using Firefox.
I also use Waterfox on my android phone. The experience is great. Highly recommend it.
