Sounds like good news. Xfce is one of the most relevant DE's out there in my opinion. We need a solid option for lightweight hardware. Seeing this DE fall away because they can't run Wayland sessions well would suck.

Interesting news! I'm looking forward to seeing what the new build of the game has over the current. If I remember correctly the switch port includes some features the current PC port lacks like analog movement, and turbo speed. Hopefully we get those sorts of features in the new release. I'm also wondering about the save file differences. I hope someone takes a look into the possibility of editing an old save to work in the new game.

Very good to see these enter the preservation program. I would like to see the XIII trilogy added as well since those are currently sort of difficult to run without user patches. My understanding is the GOG preservation program includes work on GOG's part to modify the games to run well on modern systems.
Anti-cheat will still be one of the biggest problems for the new Steam Machine

I see both sides of this argument. I get that kernel access anti-cheat is a serious "trust me, bro" situation. I also play both Counter-Strike 2, and Valorant regularly. One of those games is flooded with cheaters, and the other has basically none. In competitive online games you can't have cheaters. It fundamentally breaks the game experience.
Valve understands both parts of this. I hope their intelligent minds are at work engineering a solution for this technical problem in Linux. I would love to be able to delete my Windows 11 partition for good. Val is the only reason I have to keep it.

I started playing OpenMW on my steam deck, and syncing my game saves between my deck and PC with syncthing a while ago. The experience is so nice! Highly recommended.
Developer of PlayStation 1 emulator DuckStation threatens "removing Linux support entirely" but not yet

The Linux community is seeing an influx of new users. I'm one of them. Noobs like us don't really understand that an app might be packaged by a second party, and that bug reports shouldn't go to the original developer in such cases. Still, the answer isn't to leave Linux entirely. I'm pretty tired of seeing these kind of stories about DuckStation. The dev doesn't seem committed to FOSS. I say we just support SwanStation's hard fork from the pre-Sept 2024 codebase.
