Epic Games Store saw a 57% increase in purchases for third-party PC games in 2025

Quoting: SzkodnixSo far the only good thing in Epic is that they got regional pricing right for me (or at least in Poland).

I still don't trust that clown Sweeney.
maybe i will play devil's advocate here, but when epic games shut down their Paragon MOBA game, they refunded all donations made by players. Killing games sucks, but at least epic games did a really honourable gesture with these refunds.

GOG now using AI generated images on their store

making illustrations with ai, instead of hiring artists, is the same as making games drm-free with cracks, instead of buying them from gog. hopefully gog will stop sloppifying itself, because it is one of few digital game stores that actually has its mission, purpose and reasons to exist.

that's why i try to avoid every game-as-service, because committing to it is a waste of time once all of it is gone with a click of publisher's killswitch.

European Commission gathering feedback on the importance of open source

To force tech giants contribute back to open source, the open source projects should force GPLv2 licence. And have actual auditing entity to ensure compliance. EU can enforce that. MIT licence and similar ones won't work, they don't require even crediting authors and contributors. That's why I don't like those "permissive" licences. We don't need another intel management engine, also known as Minix.

Steam Client Beta adds a revamped interface for opting into game Betas and other changes

hopefully steam will force user-accessible games versioning on all games, because I don't want to download depots via steam console each time fallout 4 or skyrim updates.

Quoting: RouhollahWe already have dlss override on linux. Take a look at the dxvk nvapi wiki on github.
Those still seem to just be the original DLSS flags, not the newer ones added in DLSS Override like switching between CNN and transformer models. I'm not seeing anything to change that.
to switch to transformer model, use the k preset...

i can't agree with arc raiders victory in the innovations category, because there were zero innovations in the game. to be honest i doubt there can be significant innovations in video games in general. in the last 30-40 years almost every possible idea has been already tried. not every possible combination of ideas, but combining existing ideas is not innovation. everything else looks okay, at least people voted for it.
