i dont understand the techinical details and i'm pretty sure most of the people also dont understand.

i think we should focus this kind of news in:
that games werent playable and now they are?
what games had some bugs and now they play fine?

maybe if we search for "cryptographic hashes" on wineHQ we can find some games that didnt run due to this feature not be implemented in wine, and test then again to report if they do run now?

OpenGL threaded GL dispatch is now in Mesa-git, should improve a few games performance

we need to do benchmarks again for a lot of games...
maybe now some games that used to perform on pair or worse than windows version could show an clear advantage...

after all, porters were aiming at the game be playable not to perform great, now we can have something better than they expected

"There’s also the fact that Steam Machines haven’t really taken off, so that’s quite a weak argument to have anyway."
and this is an extra reason to then to not take off.
its a shame that microsoft is doing an "if you purchase an game on xbox you can play then on windows"
and steam machines that always had ths selling point are loosing it.

i dont blame the port house, i blame valve for leting this happen, their strategy with steam machines was the same as their market: null.

i dont know what is worse, to think that the only reason we are getting some games is because valve Subsidized part of the cost of the port and if they ever give up on that, we will stop geting new games...
or to think that valve may not be putting money into this at all.

yeah, they are hiring one developer here and there, i dont see this as Serious investment/commitment.

" you don’t buy a game for a PlayStation 4 and demand an Xbox One version as well, do you? "
except that sony get an cut on each games sold for PS4, microsoft get an cut for every sale on xb1, but guess what?
valve get an cut of every game sold on steam for both windows and linux, couldnt then solve it?

Quoting: elmapulits not "monochromatic" its sepia =P
Sepia is a specific reddish brown tint. Monochrome means shades of any single colour.
anyway its got an nostalgic Color, not an random single color but one that make its looks like its old.

Quoting: ison111Why is it so monochromatic? That's just some artifact of how the image was "leaked" and people don't actually think that looks good do they?

I hope the actual final version has full colored images of the game titles. Not only would it look better in my opinion, but having them all 1 color makes them more difficult to find.
its not "monochromatic" its sepia =P

i hope that this theme makes the title selected full color, and the others sepia

LiquidSky, the 'PC in the Cloud' gaming service will support Linux

i wonder if this will increase the marketshare of windows on the cloud, or if more games will be ported to linux since linux is better on the server market anyway....

Quoting: Purple Library GuyOverall, I might be interested if I lived in South Korea and had a blazing fast connection.

As to who it's good for . . . well, I suspect in the medium term the trend towards software disappearing into the cloud, with stuff like this or things being browser-based, probably is good for Linux the OS (although perhaps not for Free Software more generally). Basically, it's a trend towards making the local OS unimportant. If any OS will in effect run everything, then what do you base your choice of operating system on? User friendliness at this point is mainly a matter of style; all the OSes can do it. So what's left?
Well, Linux won't phone home and tell Microsoft, Apple or the NSA all your pr0n watching habits. That's the only firm differentiator I can think of if everyone can run all the software: Lack of a Big Brother.
facebook does bigbrother on the content you see on it and outside of it (if the page has an social plugin)
so?
