I'm left wondering when governments will come for Steam accounts. My account is over 18 years old, so maybe they'll implement the same system Nexus Mods did.

Can they fix the installer regression? I still have to drop down to 8.0-5 to install the thing for Mirror's Edge Catalyst, then put it back up to play the actual game.

I feel like this should be a broader thing than gaming, especially with some of the... interesting decisions some of these projects have made over the years to "improve" gaming.
This channels into the "Ooh there are too many distros" conversation. We need a much larger push for interoperability of dependencies than just a handful of "gaming" distros pushing tweaks they like upstream.

I keep trying this game. I've always figured it's one of those games where part of the enjoyment is figuring out how it all works, like old Amiga games that didn't come with a manual. It's been... *checks notes* 12 years and I still don't know how to do more than dig a hole. And yes, I refuse to check Youtube.

I wish they didn't make DX12 the default on Windows, that's exactly what developers are going to use and target for performance. 😫

restructuring at Abu Dhabi, RedLynx and MassiveMassive Entertainment are your only fully functional studio at this point, so sure. ⏰
Quoting: PaldinoXAh yes, the perfect business strategy, keep doing the same exact thing we've been doing for the past 15 years and hope it digs us out of the hole we've gotten ourselves into!I think there was a game that made this point a while ago. Can't quite remember what it... Vaas.

It's worth noting that Endeavour was first released during the period where Arch didn't have an install script (archinstall), so it made more sense back then than it does now.

Quoting: eldarionI don't know about the cross platform app, but Vortex is a buggy and overcomplicated mess. I miss the days of Nexus Mod Manager...It's funny the NexusMods is best known for Skyrim modding, because this really reeks of Bethesda being adamant that the Creation Engine totally isn't just a Gamebryo rebrand and is totes the best at modern game development actually.

I'd really love to see a git-based or other repository-style mod site. One of the biggest issues in modding is the modder gets bored and their mods eventually break because they don't keep up with dependencies or game updates, but no-one can do anything about it because the mods would need to be disassembled, assuming that's possible, or it's not clear whether anyone else would have permission to fork it.
