I've never fully understood pirating games.... I've tried downloading games from Pirate Bay in the past and it was complete pain in the butt. Instead I purchase games on sale or second-hand. I have a huge library of over 200 PC Games and only spent a fraction of what they cost brand new on release day.
I know that I don't support developers directly, but that is the best I can do. Games are expensive. Movies are expensive. So I always buy everything used or on sale.
Guess I am not part of the statistics as a consumer
I'm not a big fan of DRM and love buying games on GOG.com
I've been testing a lot of games in PlayOnLinux and found that many of them work just fine. Some games refuse to run because of DRM. If it wasn't for DRM then it would run in PlayOnLinux.
DRM free has been very popular with Indie development and Kickstarter games. I'm glad to hear big companies are seeing the benefits of DRM free games for them and the consumer.

Shroud Of The Avatar: Forsaken Virtues RPG Released On Steam For Linux

Offline will be an awesome feature for many people. I'm glad some developers still see offline as important.
Looks like Shroud of the Avatar will be an exciting sandbox and RPG game. Graphics are very nice, and I'm loving the day/night cycle.
Its hard to tell in the video if its an action combat game or turn-based combat.

This new IndieRoyal bundle has all Desura games which includes 3 Linux games.
Why would they advertise Desura and Linux if the client is no longer downloadable?

No terminal or chown chmod commands.
I want Desura back!

Quoting: pbMost, if not all of them come from various bundles. Many are also on Steam, but there are also numerous little gems that are not available anywhere else (yet). My problem is that even if I played some games and enjoyed them, I quickly forget about them without a working client (I have a Linux client downloaded from Desura page, but it crashes right after start). A it is now, I just start my gaming session with booting up Steam and choosing from the Steam games library, rather than browsing my ~/games directory populated with FLOSS games, desura / humble bundle / gog drm-free games and some dosbox-wrapped oldies. It's not that I'm blindly in love with Steam, it just happens to have a pretty comfortable client. That's why I'm looking forward to GOG's and Desura's Linux clients so I can have a similar experience regardless of what I feel like playing today.Good point. Desura would handle the installation and updates for each game. Just like Steam. It is as easy as select game, download, launch.

Its nice they are DRM free so you can still play them even if the client is defunct.

Quoting: pb"How does this make you feel about Desura?"Holy Moses! How the heck did you get 233 Linux games in Desura? Thats crazy! I didn't even know they had that many!
I have 233 Linux games on Desura and I only played a tiny fraction of them because of no working client. I downloaded some games and ran them from a directory, but then I just forget about them and they lie around. It will be awesome if they roll out a working client at least. With that, and the upcoming GOG Galaxy client, I will finally be able to extend my gaming habits beyond Steam.
Its nice they are DRM free so you can still play them even if the client is defunct.

Awesome! I was wondering what is going on with Desura. I haven't downloaded it in a while so I'm looking forward to the new client when it comes...
Desura really had to compete with all the online stores: Humble Store, GOG, Steam
Mostly steam because all the other sites including Humble Store mostly sell Steam keys.
But Desura boasted DRM Free indie games for Linux!
I'm all for that, including some free games.
Bring back Desura!

The Last Dogma Is Now On Greenlight, Offering Linux Version Exclusively For SteamOS

Ran just fine on my GeForce 550 Ti
So if it runs on SteamOS, it should run in any Distro with Steam.
I have a feeling "exclusive" means the Linux version won't be released anywhere else (GOG, Desura, etc.)

Quoting: TealTheir Greenlight page saysThe developer is using the Unity 3D engine. He has ported the beta to Linux before and I've tested it for him.
Linux Version:
Linux version does exist and has minor exclusive additional content (several voiced lines), it was thoroughly tested by moderator of GamersOnLinux and works fine. It will be available only on Steam (for SteamOS).
So I would take this with a bit of a salt. Considering it's specifically just a few voiced lines and this is a comedy game, it will most likely poke a bit of a fun at the player for running Linux or something.
