Cossacks 3 finally in open beta for all Linux users

Hopefully they'll also release it on GOG when it's out of beta, many companies seem to forget there are Linux gamers on GOG (looking at you Techland....or should I say Lazyland).

Are you ready for some more Tyranny? Something is being teased for tomorrow

Quoting: GuestExcuse my ignorance, but what is an upgrade path?
I guess he means upgrading from edition to another.
So , if you have the base game edition and want to upgrade that to the deluxe edition.
Ah thanks! Makes sense that way, yes. I indeed see no such step-up, though many other games have it (on GOG). Sounds like a restriction from publisher to me, but what do I know :/
To lay all the cards on the table, Pillars of Eternity suffered the first from this and after contacting Paradox and Obsidian they both bounced it back on GOG. Up to this day, nothing has been done about it, and as a completionist as I am I ended up paying twice the amount a Steam user would (regardless of how much discount there is). That ended there.

Tyranny was on the horizon, the game was released as per the usual triple editions, both on Steam and GOG. Later on, Steam got the upgrade paths and here yet again the GOG version remains without.

--------------

So what does the above mean? It means that if you own the basic edition on GOG and wish to upgrade later for the extras you will be paying as if you're buying the game from fresh which typically results twice the amount as you would from Steam.

Strangely enough, many games released on GOG afterwards got upgrade paths. These 2 games however were left in the dark and are both developed and published by Obsidian and Paradox respectively.

Apologies if this seems to go off topic, it's something that has always bothered me and I wanted to get it off my chest.

This is the game I vowed to never buy thanks to GOG's lack of upgrade paths, which are present on Steam.

Wine 2.10 released, nothing massive this time around

Quoting: coesetaPath of Exile sounds good. Thought about playing it again just yesterday :)

Hope they optimize gw2 again which is a pain since 2.2 staging.
2.0 staging is by far the best for GW2, anything past that is a massive performance drop. Best thing to do is use 2.0 for GW2 and newer versions for everything else.

As for PoE, the fix they mention has been fixed many versions ago, I've been playing it at 1920x1080 since 1.9 Wine series. :-)

GOG adds a bunch of NEO GEO classics, some have Linux support

Quoting: iplaygameswearingatuxCould anyone please confirm whether the games are playable in MAME?
I wrote a slightly detailed guide how to make them work in MAME, you can find the link here [External Link] (links to gog.com forums)
That guides seems really complicated. I have the HB versions and I just dump the neogeo.zip and the game.zips and they work as is. Were GOG versions altered?
Can you please upload a screenshot of what's inside the neogeo.zip in the HB version? If they're altered I wouldn't as I don't own the HB version.

It is worth adding that despite there's no Linux icon, the Metal Slug games also come with Mac and Linux installers.

There's a small note in each of the Metal Slug game pages:

"Please note: macOS and Linux versions are provided as unsupported bonus content."

I can only guess unsupported means that if these versions don't work, support may not be able to help you if you run into a problem. For the record I bought all 4 and tested them and besides the well known stuttering from the DotEmu port, the games run fine and are perfectly playable on Linux.

Should this happen, I hope they will provide it to GOG. This bad trend of not providing Linux ports to GOG has to stop (Looking at you Deep Silver).

Reus finally updated for Linux bringing it out of Beta, now properly supported

It's been so long that this game has been released that I forgot there was going to be a Linux version. Better late than never, which means I will buy it if released on GOG, I'm glad they finally got around to finish it.

Seems the Linux version of Cossacks 3 is not a myth, as I now have access

Quoting: UnixOutlawI've been hanging out for this for like forever... Original Cossacks, and Napoleonic Wars were the only reason I had Wine a few desktops ago (Ubuntu 14.04, 15.04 and elementary freya and Ubuntu 15.10)... Best RTS ever! Wine recently broke a 16.04 install (dependency hell) so I gave up... To play this Natively would be a dream come true!
You got me curious, which of the 2 Ubuntu 16.04 broke?
