Here's how to get The Witcher 3 working on Steam Deck after the next-gen update

Quoting: eldarionMy question for steam deck users would be if you actually notice any difference between the original and the next gen version. With a small screen, there should be almost none.

The texture improvement is, in theory, unnoticeable on small screens. The ray tracing thing is, as we can see on multiple comparation videos, almost indistinctable from the original (which, by the way, means the dev team did a great work with shadow simulation).
Text / UI scaling options, new content, new camera controls etc. There's lots of improvements to see.

Quoting: LordDaveTheKindIt would have been nice to set the DirectX11 version directly from the launch command (maybe with the parameter -dx11 as the UE games do), and skip entirely that launcher.
Yeah, the problem seems to be skipping the launcher appears to just set a default to DX12 from what I've seen.

Quoting: hardpenguinHuh, it never affected me THAT much. I guess my gaming sessions are short 😅. Plus one could restart the stream every now and then. Anyway, glad it is fixed!
Simply restarting the stream didn't work for me, but now it's perfect.

I rarely get sent any hardware
Receives a Steam Deck before public release
🤔🧐🤨
You know what "rarely" means right? 🤔 That was the first time I've ever been sent hardware ahead of release. In my many years running GOL, I've been sent hardware by companies to look at all of about 5 or 6 times.

Quoting: StalePopcornI don't usually condone it, but I might go ahead and pre-purchase this one! It was such a damned good game! :woot:
A lot of people hate pre-orders and such, but I use it as a helpful form of budgeting so I know I'll have the game at release. I get why people hate it though, there's too many games that stick too many extras in pre-orders to force people to buy early and make their numbers look good.

Quoting: tfkOn YouTube 90 percent of the comments seem to be in vavour of the acquisition... weird but true.
Easy to see why though: people want all their games on GamePass without thinking about the wider picture.

If it requires your intervention than that does nothing to raise my opinion of them. I've been a loyal customer since the second bundle (so about 12 years), but the customer experience has been getting worse for a long time. It's easy to destroy trust and hard to regain it. The shift from direct downloads to mostly reselling Steam keys was not a good one.

The newsletters are annoying as well. It is not possible to get a single mail for each bundle. Instead you can either get nothing at all or a constant avalanche of emails (several for each bundle and a flood of subscription nagging as well).
I get it's annoying and shouldn't happen, that is why I offered to help that you've turned down so I'll just step away at this point. It's a rare occurrence that this happens, but it does happen to any store doing Steam keys as I already mentioned, but that doesn't excuse them not automatically putting the keys into the hands of customers waiting for them. Good luck with it.

Quoting: KlaasI cannot agree to that. Either they have been selling nothing but non-existing keys for several months now or they're keeping me waiting without a real reason. Either way – contacting them seems entirely futile – you wait several weeks for a reply and then it's always “can't help you”.
I’m just telling you how it is and suggesting what you can do 🤷‍♂️ offered to help.

I'm not sure if it is worth spending any more time on this. At this point I don't think I'll get the key at all.

I'm not sure if I made a mistake by being patient – the first weeks I simply waited and looked at the page regularly without clicking on the redeem key button that had the exhaustion message above it. Maybe I'm really late in the queue for replenished keys. What bugs me the most is that the game is still available for purchase on the normal store – I've also seen it on sale. IMO that makes them look very shady.
Now and then they do run out of keys, it’s a problem any store has that sells Steam keys. Any time I’ve chased them they’ve solved it. Nothing shady about it but it sounds like you’ve fallen through the cracks somehow, so definitely chase them, you did pay after all.
