Quoting: antisolCoincidentally, I saw an interesting thing about this exact subject not long ago, how e.g the houses are designed differently to keep heat in, and AC basically isn't a thing over there, so on a day where it's 27 outside it can get quite warm indoors.AC? Never heard of it.

Proton 6.14 GE-2 and Wine 6.14 GE-2 are out, easily update Proton GE with ProtonUp

Edit: additionally, for users, a small script like this can end up easier too. Figuring out how to lock packages can be a pain from repositories. Whereas stuff like this you update when you want, and it's not a main system thing. Not only that, ProtonUp doesn't replace older versions, which for something like this is extremely useful since sometimes things break.

Quoting: jrtThere is still the possibility to add a repository with normal packages. I dislike the idea of programs that ship their own updater or community made updaters. Package managers are made for this purpose and they do mostly a good job. It's a nice thought, and it would be great if there was literally a repo for everything but there isn't. Creating small scripts is often far easier and quicker than getting into setting up a repository or sorting out a full package system. It's not and doesn't need to be a one size fits all.

Valve fires back in the lawsuit from Wolfire Games

Quoting: kuhpunktIt does make things a little interesting though, from a certain point of view it now gives developers a legal case to point out if it ever comes up that someone claims Valve force pricing or if Valve suddenly do tell a developer they have to match a price.Quoting: scaineMakes me wonder if the entire purpose of the lawsuit was so that Wolfire Games could price their games differently on other stores without any comeback from Valve as to the practice. They could have done that from the beginning.

Quoting: GuestIs momentum picking up, or was July a particularly impressive month for news? Maybe it's a bit of both. In any case, I didn't realise just how much was going on until this was all summarised.Honestly, July felt like one of the busiest months we've had in some time, not just because of the Steam Deck.

Quoting: justragDo they ship internationally for free? I can't find this info on the page. From what I can research, since Humble fail to properly explain it, I believe you get a code to then redeem it directly from the Paizo store but it seems shipping is extra.

Quoting: LinasI wonder if they are ever going to officially support Media Foundation? There are so many games that work just fine, except missing video playback. As I understand, part of what they're doing is some sort of re-encoding on Steam servers into a format Proton can work with. Don't quote me on it, but I'm sure I saw one of the people involved mentioning it. That, and they're telling developers to avoid it.
Frozenbyte are now telling Linux users to use Proton, even for their older games

Edit: oh, and of course Google has spent millions getting developers to port to it too.

Quoting: BeamboomThat begs the question, why?Due to it being streaming, it's super sensitive to anything especially anything that might cause a bit more input lag. However, we know for a fact that multiple games on Stadia use DXVK-Native. However, the games themselves are Linux builds but they do still need Stadia specific adjustments for their SDK, input and so on.
