Proton GE gets some big updates but you may need to remove old Wine prefixes

Quoting: EhvisYou might want to add a step before that where you backup any potential savegames that are stored in the prefix.
It's clearly mentioned after.

Fingeance is a fishy shoot 'em up that needs team-play rather than twitch-reflexes

Quoting: MnolegThe gamepad support it's broken, at least for me. It works perfect under wine though. Maybe I'll play it with the kids at the weekend.
Worked without issues here with an Xbox controller, not even an official one either a cheapo one.

Check out Sonic Robo Blast 2, a 3D open-source Sonic the Hedgehog fangame built from Doom

Quoting: GuestI don’t understand: how can you release under an open source license a game including characters that are owned by another company (Sega in this case)?
SEGA doesn't usually mind Sonic fan games and they've clarified the stance a bit recently, as noted in the newest Sonic article.

GitHub restores a fork of the cross-platform reverse-engineered GTA III and Vice City code

Well I'm not going to debate the title and such further, it's fine as is, the text is clear enough IMO.

Quoting: ZlopezI got the same impression from the title alone: "GitHub restores a fork of the cross-platform reverse-engineered GTA III and Vice City code". It really looks like GitHub did this on its own.
The title is factual though, GitHub are the ones to restore it since they're hosting it - regardless of why it was done. Titles can only say so much, the key is what the text explains ;)

Quoting: nevvyThe article title makes it sound as if this was a proactive stance by github, whereas they are just mechanically following the DMCA protocols, as the original TF article clarifies.
Really not sure why you got that impression. It was very clearly noted that Theo got GitHub to restore it, not that GitHub did it to help anyone out. I've added another part to explain it even further.

VR is absolutely insane, I am officially a convert and it works mostly great on Linux

Quoting: orochi_kyoOne of the oldest selling arguments used in the market is when the salesman or saleswoman tells you if you heard people don't like this or that is because they didn't try it and if they did they didn't try it enough.

Again Liam used it here.
It is of course an editorial / initial thoughts post, with the contents being my opinion. It's all highly subjective of course. However, I did make it clear I was previously not even remotely convinced by it, after trying it I am. It's not a case of "not trying enough", it's a case of not understanding how good it is until you actually try it. Quite a simple concept.

Quoting: orochi_kyoThe future of gaming? It is already here, it is mobile gaming.
Entirely different market, entirely different experience. To compare them is frankly laughable.

Quoting: [email protected]What is the Doctor's opinion for longtime use and it`s psychological effects, could this be good for Problems with the Brain, Mind and Soul, or could VR be dangerous to create or increase psychotic, schizophrenic or other symptoms/forms of Madness.
Can't speak for much but as someone who suffers from Depression, it's actually helped quite a lot.

Quoting: g000hI'll be interested to know if you're still using it with gusto and fervour in 6 months time.
That is something that will be interesting to see. I suppose that depends on how VR games develop over this time, and if I can discover any new loves of already release games during that time. Stay tuned, more to come.

Quoting: brokkrI've been meaning to look into LiberaPay for a while anyway. Seems like a good time to get on that now. Liam, you mention the stability of Patreon but isn't LiberaPay just as stable?
Not really. Liberapay just pays in a lump sum for each donation, even though everything still mentions weekly and so on. Whereas Patreon is a nice sum every month, that's what gives us the stability - as we know roughly what we will get each month with Patreon.

Quoting: brokkrI quit Patreon all those years back after the small donations 'scandal'. Can I ask: Is it dumb to still be sore about that? I felt like they never acknowledged _what_ actually was bad about what they did. Instead they just reversed course and a month later tried to joke about it, like 'oopsie haha!'
Patreon has taken heat a few times, and rightfully so, but thankfully most of the time they've rethought their decisions. They still offer the best service to small creators.
