Valve updates Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for French players to deal with loot boxes

Quoting: fagnerlnI really don't care about the loot boxes on cs go, it's only skins, nothing game changer. Now, a battle pass can be a problem if they limit access to maps and game modes
A Battle Pass would not be for maps and game modes, it would be to unlock skins and stuff like that. Have you not seen how they're done in other games? It's a pretty simple system and works well.

Quoting: subIf they fixed all blocker issues and if it's doable without
excessive work they should release a Linux version.
Even if it won't pay by means of revenues.

It's bad business practice to simply not deliver promised products and will harm your rep.

Take it this way:

We promised, we'll deliver (even if it took years) - please consider supporting us with our next project.
They didn't promise anything, in fact they clearly said before they were not making a promise. This harms nothing. Anyone who purchased it previously did so knowingly they were getting a Windows game that *may* end up with a Linux port.
Where did they say that?
I just remember statements that they are working hard on releasing a Linux version.
And a regular reminder that they can't promise to release it soon.
I don't really get where people got this impression they actually confirmed 100% they would release it. They asked for requests and then over time gave an update on how they were doing. They never said with certainty that a Linux version would release just that they wanted to.

There's also this post here: "I don't want to make any promises".

Regardless, like I always tell people: Don't assume, buy it when it's released and not before.

Just a note, I got an early key and the Linux build is there.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleAnyhoo, GOL has a block feature. I have found it has improved my general experience a lot.
On that note, I just made that feature a bit better.

Happy Sunday.

Quoting: denyasisPerhaps I'm showing my age here, but how is the store commiting fraud? Is it because the game license is owned by steam or it's a requirement?

I remember as a younger person buying used games at a store. PS2 games, computer games, etc. I'd imagine if someone came in with an old computer game and activation code, the store would likely accept it.

With steam/online activation, is the whole concept of second hand games no longer valid? That seems sad, especially for lower income kids. I had a certain joy going through the used games bin with my friends looking for hidden treasures.
It's because the user who originally owned the key has obviously used it so anyone picking it up second hand can't actually use the key, so basically they purchased a copy someone else still has = shouldn't happen, the store is 100% at fault.

Quoting: BotonoskiSome irrelevant local news: I recently purchased a used DVD copy of Borderlands 2 for $8, the only place it mentioned needing Steam was in tiny font in the system requirements, as such it was a dud since the cd key had already been used, and the cherry on top: the place I bought it from has a no return policy on PC games. Now I sit here contemplating whether or not pirating the game is morally justified at this point or if this is all really my fault for expecting anything different.
Ouch. I would certainly never shop there again but you must have some local consumer organisation that could deal with a case like that? No store should be able to get away with that sort of thing as they shouldn't have accepted it to sell it in the first place. Depends how much you want to push it I guess. Me? I wouldn't stand for it.

Quoting: sarmadIs the screen tearing from your end or from the app?
Unsure, that was the first most basic test I did in a game properly with it. Have yet to see if it's the same in fullscreen.
