Civilization VI just got a Battle Royale mode in the September update that's live now

Quoting: pbIt seems quite fun. ;-) Anyhow, wasn't Civilization always a kind of battle royale anyway? ;-)
In a way, yes. Depending on how you played it. This is obviously very different though.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyThat is somewhat confusing. So what are the original developers of KSP doing?
Working on KSP ;)

Slay the Spire's fourth character is available for Beta testing

Quoting: shawnsterp"However if you've already beaten it and have the third character this new one should auto unlock."

Actually, that's only true if you were already in the beta. I have beaten the game on all three characters up through level 19, but when I switched to beta, it forced me to create a new profile. So, starting from scratch. I decided I'll just wait, lol.

On the other hand, I finally realized what those three little carrot things are for, so I have something else to work towards.
You just copy over your save. As they noted in the announcement.

Quoting: Liam DaweNot just that, KSP 2 is being done by a different developer.
Ah, but still 2K Publisher? I suppose they just want to milk the brand then. Even worse.
It's a bit confusing.

Private Division is the publisher, which is owned by Take-Two Interactive (who also own 2K). The development on KSP 2 is being done by Star Theory Games which is basically a rebranding of Uber Entertainment (Planetary Annihilation original developer, which is now under a different dedicated developer).

Quoting: ShmerlNot surprising about them dropping Linux. They were swallowed by 2K / Take Two, a legacy publisher with no particular interest in Linux.

Need a new stresstest for your Linux PC? Geekbench 5 is out adding Vulkan support

Quoting: Houtworm@Eike, No it is not normal that a desktop is under its base clock at 100% load There is thermal throttling but these are pretty insane temps you need to reach before this activates. For me it is just a killswitch If I hit 97 degrees my system shuts down instantly.

Most CPUs run well above their base clock on auto settings, But it is easy to push it to a Ghz or 2 above base if you have proper cooling :)

@Liam, Great to see you gone from 2.8Ghz to 3.9Ghz :) Incredible improvement in the benchmark Especially in the multi core, I think your primary core was 2.8, the rest might have been even lower.

I would do a stress test for about an hour and keep your eye on it to ensure it is stable and it does not overheat :)
Oh it won't I have water cooling, its lovely.

The Unity game engine is going to be seeing an update which will bring in things like updated graphics APIs.
Not for Linux though. They will be switching to DirectX 11 with the upcoming update, no words on Vulkan.
Each update of Unity improves all the APIs, OpenGL and Vulkan included. Even if they're not doing Vulkan, it will likely be smoother on OpenGL since more advanced features work better and are supported on OpenGL in later releases. It all helps.

Another great progress report is up for the PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3

Rockfish confirm EVERSPACE 2 will not go exclusive to the Epic Store, Steam is the "best platform" for indies

Quoting: Alm888So… Steam-exclusive, then. Whew… That's a lot better.
As said by others, Valve don't pay developers for exclusive deals. In the case of the original EVERSPACE, it's available on many stores and I expect them to do the same here when it's released. In the case of Early Access, Steam's tools are just better than GOG's and it's easier for developers to manage while the game is in flux.

Quoting: TcheyI'm absolutely no expert, and with my non-expert view, i'd think itchio is better for indie to launch or prelaunch, because less cut. Then when you get some traction from the first players (free advertisment from youtube, forum, twitter etc), and you have fixed the first annoying bugs or balance etc, you can better second launch on Steam and avoid the "Negativers", or part of them.

Or not.
Less cut, but a massively reduced audience too.
