Quoting: GuestIt doesn’t use Unity3D? With SDL2 handling the gamepads it should be easier to develop than gamepad support for Windows/Mac or consoles.Game Maker Studio.

Quoting: ShmerlOf course, eventually. No reason for them not to, just whenever they feel it's ready. That, I assume, is what the whitelist is for.Quoting: Liam DaweIt probably will be whenever Valve starts mentioning it in store pages. You mean Valve plan to start mentioning Proton compatibility on game pages? That's interesting.

Ah yeah that too. I did say 99% :p
My point is, it's hardly ever mentioned as a reason. It probably will be whenever Valve starts mentioning it in store pages.

- SteamOS/Steam Machines didn't go anywhere
- Linux market share hasn't risen (even if the relative numbers increase - devs look at the % overall)
- The Linux enthusiast pushing for Linux left the company, the rest of the developers want to spend time on things that make more money (translations)
I say this as someone who speaks to multiple developers, every day. Steam Play has so far not come up as a reason why. Edit: Okay I lied, [there was this one](https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/the-dev-of-marble-it-up-had-intriguing-words-to-say-about-the-native-vs-steam-play-argument-for-a-linux-version.14249 [External Link]).

Quoting: hagabakaI can assure you, 99% of those cases will be close to one of these:For those worried about any possible decline in "native" Linux support, as I’ve said before in a different article: first we need more users, then we can worry about actual developer support. That makes sense, but it's hard to measure Steam Play's effect on either of these possible trends: Linux gaining more users, and decline of native Linux support. Many of us have seen that some game developers who have released several Linux native titles in the past are not (or not definitely) doing it for their next project. We don't know how much that has to do with Steam Play or other reasons. Likewise, we don't know how many users and gamers are actually moving to Linux due to Steam Play, even though it is definitely helping existing Linux gamers.

Quoting: SslaxxRogue State did support Linux... kind of. Being an AGS game, if you used a copy of the AGS runtime for Linux with it, it ran. Needed Steam stub libraries as I recall, and performance was absolutely awful, but it ran.I get what you're saying and while interesting, that's not support :P

Having some funding means nothing against a game being finished or not.

Quoting: CaenthWhat's there to understand? Game development, especially for smaller teams is incredibly hard with thousands of games releasing all the time. I don't blame a single developer for taking exclusive deals, it allows them secure funding to continue making great games. It sucks for us when it's Epic, since the only way to then run it is Wine which gives us a subpar experience.Quoting: Liam DaweI don't get the issue? It's no different than any other game entering Early Access. They took the deal for the extra cash and they still need more to finish development? They sold an unfinished game on the Epic store to begin with and the extra money they got by going exclusive wasn't enough to fund to finish it. So they are going to release it with Early Access. They are admitting this way their game is not finished this way.
I doubt this stuff is even allowed, I don't think it was advertised as being unfinished in the Epic Store? With all the hate towards to the store with the exclusive bullshit, they did this one top. It seems they took the deal solely for the money. Nothing else. But with all this money they already got, they still need more to finish the game.
This doesn't give me confidence of them being a good developer or the willingness to play their game. And it bothers me even more you don't see the issue at all. But you are not alone. Sadly.
Having some funding means nothing against a game being finished or not.

Quoting: EikePretty much, except Epic Store doesn't have a special different display model for games in development like Steam/GOG and itch have for Early Access titles. As far as i am aware anyway, don't exactly look at their store often...Quoting: Liam DaweSo, Epic exclusively had an alpha version?Quoting: CaenthThey have been on Epic store for ~9 months now and after their exclusivity deal wears off they going to release with Early Access on Steam? What the hell is wrong with game development nowadays?! A lot, I tell you. I like my indie developers as much as you do, and I fully realize they need to earn their keep, but this smells. There is something called integrity and I don't see it here.I don't get the issue? It's no different than any other game entering Early Access.
The whole idea of Early Access has been warped due to many games entering practically done. Early Access was originally meant for games actually in development.
Taking an exclusive deal doesn't suddenly make game development different.
