Quoting: EikeWhat I dislike about their post though is they used Shadow of the Tomb Raider as an example for Proton.
One of the very, very few big games coming native to Linux...
Which is almost a year old and Feral don't seem to have mentioned it again since initially announcing it. How long is everyone supposed to wait?
So we can declare Game Over on native Linux gaming besides "retro-inspired"?
We get far more than retro inspired games and you know that. The reality though is that we rarely got bigger games before anyway: Feral only did a few Linux releases a year, Aspyr mostly stopped and VP only recently did some pretty poor ports of less than popular racers. I will take 1000s of games thanks to Steam Play than continue to see less bigger games with no other option.

Quoting: rustybroomhandle2.8 is the result of a dedicated effort to improve the usability of the app for both new and veteran users. Now, if only we could get the same treatment for GIMP (along with a name change).
LIP - Linux Image Processor.

Frankly, anything is better than the current name. I refuse to say GIMP, it's actually embarrassing.

Quoting: NanobangFirst off, a very happy birthday to you Liam!

This is all very, very exciting news about SteamPlay Proton, of course, but I'm most excited by the inclusion of D9VK at last! Is the PROTON_USE_D9VK setting done in Steam Launch option on a per game basis? (Please say yes.)

Exciting news!
You can do it per-game, yes. Do "PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command%" as a launch option.

Also, sorry for the delay everyone. Yesterday was my 31st birthday so I took a rare 100% day off, I'm in catch-up mode now.

Quoting: Glog78Hi Liam,

i did download both drivers and did a small md5sum ->

md5sum ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-418.52.18_*
5480d71d44b4ea6c2444e254d93fc051 ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-418.52.18_opengl.run
5480d71d44b4ea6c2444e254d93fc051 ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-418.52.18_vk.run

since the md5sum is equal i would say this are both the same driver (opengl & vk).
They could well be. Another way to check would be to use the Vulkan Hardware Capability Viewer [External Link] on the OpenGL driver and see if the new Vulkan extensions show up, if they don't it's not the same. Would be odd if they were exactly the same, since they created an entirely separate page and download for them.
But the download page is the same for OpenGL and Vulkan, isn't it? I think they have one package with both libraries.

By they way, getting a md5 synonym is highly unlikely but you can use SHA1 to be 100% sure :P.
See my edit and the note in the article.

Quoting: Klaas
Quoting: liamdaweI confirmed this and reported it to my GOG contact and posted it in the GOG forum too.
I wonder if they will fix it or just remove the Linux version.

Does the second part work? I'm still not sure if I'll like it. I think I've mentioned my concerns several times already, so I'm will not repeat them.
Train Valley 2 saves fine.
