Quoting: GuestI don’t understand, if it’s a port, then it’s not Linux first?Their own games will be fully Linux first, going by what they said. In this case, they've given true care and attention to the port working out any issues as they come up and ensuring the Linux version is top quality. I will take it, compared with the seriously high amount of Linux versions that are seemingly never tested even once.

Still, I do think they need to explain why people might try their game, even if they're not really doing it to earn a ton of money if they want people to give it more than a second thought that isn't "oh it looks like Minecraft" they do need to explain why it's not.

Quoting: NezchanFrom the looks of the YouTube comments, the dev is pretty dismissive of "it looks like Minecraft/test with a few mods" comments. Which, given that it literally does look like that and all he's got is the promise that he's got other things in mind, seems a bit of a bad approach.I saw the comments, but I didn't really think they were dismissive. One was light-hearted about having a whiskey each time it was mentioned, the other they tried to explain their approach.

Quoting: orochi_kyoIm a Wine user too, but the way you present it is the source of all the problems in the world. "I take what I can where I can", yeah, we are always "picking up the crumbs from the master's table". Its true the majority wants mindlessly to play video games, but if everyone would be thinking like you, Wine should not exist today.Oh give it up, this is completely idiotic. That is not how I presented it, at all. Wine exists for many reasons, partly because people want things to work, on Linux.
Quoting: orochi_kyoWhat you have said is disrespectful to what you are supposed to defend.Hahahahaha...what?
Quoting: orochi_kyoAnd the fact your comment got 36 likes, well, I dont know what Im doing here. The reason I get from people who uses Windows is the same you are using, they want things to work. As a Linux users we should be straight with the fact we always have to do the extra mile. So you only wants things to work? Why the ... are you using Linux?Ah yes, I want things to work so I shouldn't be using Linux.

Quoting: subHey Liam, thanks for this service!Perhaps, although it might make things confusing when my aim is just to get people right to the games rather than do in-website links like other sites often do. Will think on how to best do it, might not always make sense either when previous articles don't have anything important to know.
Would you mind linking to the most relevant GOL article of the individual games if it's not too much work?
(Ofc) They are sometimes very helpful with the replies from the community.

Quoting: HazelnutI found an article that looks like the carbon copy of yours: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.vgamezone.com/2019/04/20/dragonruby-game-toolkit-a-cross-platform-way-to-make-games-with-ruby/%3Famp&ved=2ahUKEwibkN23vN_hAhXD0qQKHQWfD68QFjAEegQIBBAB&usg=AOvVaw3tLENmTXI21GsyGkOp0Cu_&cf=1&cshid=1555790987356 [External Link]Their entire Linux section is basically a rip of our content. I am aware of it, not a huge amount I can do but try to get to their webhost which isn't easy when their info is hidden.
Now, I don't if you published it there or not, but I thought that I'd rather look like a fool than risk not helping gamingOnLinux out.

I now take what I can, where I can. If I can get a game working on Linux, officially or not and have fun with it that's what matters most. The majority really don't care about the little details, they just want things to work.

Quoting: CorbenThis is how it has to start, I guess. We were playing games with wine way before Valve decided to support Linux natively. And this showed them there is interest. Then Microsoft did its store thing, and game platforms where looking for alternatives. Without wine we wouldn't have that I guess. So yeah, I think it's a good start that the Epic client is now working properly on Linux via a compatibility layer. Which may lead then to a native client sooner or later, especially as Epic is looking for Linux engineers. And I guess not only for backend stuff.Honestly, I think it's crazy how many people turn their noses up at Wine. I've said it before and I will say it again, without Wine letting me play some games on Linux in the early days I simply wouldn't be here today.
I know we prefer a proper native support, I do this as well. But being able to play now games, that are known to work well with wine+dxvk (e.g. Metro Exodus), it's at least something.
edit: will we see a community driven project like protondb for games that work with wine/dxvk from the epic store soon, or with this be listed on winehq?
