Odd, I'm never without it. I've tested and the performance difference in most games is so low it doesn't matter to me. Without it, tearing everywhere.

OK, it could have been even worse with a clickbait topic like "DoomRL is doomed!!!1!", but it is still strongly opinionated in both the article itself as well as Liam defending his point of view down here in the comments. *snip*

Since I never did reply to this (not sure I ever actually saw this comment before), I wanted to make something clear. I absolutely never, ever, mean to do any kind of clickbait. This was simply me getting ahead of myself at the time about it.

Not entirely sure what your complaint is about Discord here? You made multiple accounts, then complain they can't put them together? Sounds like it's more an issue with how you use it, if I understood what you said correctly.

i cant remember the login to my previous accounts so when i click a link like yours ican't join because my email is already used for one of the previous accounts
there is just no way for me too log in or participate on any discord server

if i am doing something wrong or overlooked something please let me know

I will argue that point. We have what we have today all because of Steam, as they basically forced it requiring it for certain games and features and eventually expanded and it eventually became a standard. Not because direct selling didn't work.

Interesting idea except there are many games not on steam which do the same lockin crap. I doubt for example Valve told Epic to enable analytics in Unity. I don't think Steam collects anywhere near the crap other platforms do.

The fun fact about analytics is they are always shown in a positive light because there will always be software that sells, and yes, some of them will enable such things. Doesn't mean the analytics aided those sales in any way, you still need a product worth buying. Point is the marketing mindset to collect data about everything a user does, did NOT come from Steam nor Valve. If anything I'd blame Apple, Google, Microsoft, etc.

Not really sure what you're getting at here. Valve and Epic have nothing to do with Unity for starters. On top of that, what we're talking about here is an entirely different argument to analytics gathering.

LOL What? Did you seriously compare Steam to Discord??

The network behind Steam and Valve dwarf Discord's largely hosted infrastructure. Discord is a creepy, closed platform with a company. But more damning is they are quite politically motiviated. Prehaps a result of their relationship with tencent.

I loathe Steam at times but compairing it to Discord is no competition.

Yes, I compared them a little. I mentioned the revenue splits across different stores which is very relevant, something that's important to note and like a good article talking about it should note.
