Quoting: GuestThat looks like the most depressing game ever made. You could see it that way, but it depends how it's done. Could end up being an interesting story of rising up and succeeding through life's struggles.
Unreal Engine 4.21 is out, now defaults to the Vulkan API on Linux

Quoting: GuestBattlEye has a Linux version FYI.Quoting: x_wingEven if they treat Vulkan as a First Class Citizen as long as they dont make it a option into their Games it doesnt matter. You could say its because of BattlEye that there is no Linux Version but i dont think so. Probably the Vulkan Support in Unreal Engine is just not "good" enough yet. You could say then they could just use OpenGL but the Performance would be way "worse" in comparison to Windows then. I mean with a Good Enough PC i guess you wouldnt notice that much. But still Vulkan is the better Option for Linux and Windows.Quoting: GuestI dont follow the Unreal Engine Development really much. But it looks like they still dont treat Vulkan like a First Class Citizen. Maybe i'm wrong. But as long as they dont do it. I dont see for example Fortnite coming to Linux in a native way.I doubt that they treath as second class citizen Vulkan (if so, we must say the same for Dx12). If Fortnite is using Dx11 it's just because they want to reach as much public they can (it's a freemium software, so it makes sense). If they don't make the release for Linux it's probably related with Battleye and that they don't want to pay for the Linux support (AFAIK, Battleye has a Linux client).

If you have issues, our Discord [External Link] is pretty good with helping out with that.
Also, I never said it was polished, I said the added more polish - there's a difference. It has some ways to go, but going by the version number it's not hit a "stable" official release yet.

Planetary Annihilation: TITANS continues to improve with another recent patch

So far, the new team seems to be doing good. Doing some things that also should have been done some time ago. Naturally, like everything it's a balancing act. They have to keep players amused and entertained, often in the form of new content which for some ends up becoming too big a focus over the more pressing game issues.
I hope the new team understand they need to really work on the core parts of the game, like the performance, upgrading the UI software to improve support across drivers, the server issue mentioned before by Cestarian and so on.

Quoting: hummer010They are some of the original team though, although I know one of the team I used to speak to left for Unity.Quoting: GuestYes, and no.Quoting: liamdaweI've no doubt they will work towards that, especially now they've begun improving all aspects of it.I sure do hope... But they've had years to do it already...
Yes, because Uber had years to do it and didn't. No, because it is now being supported by a different team, who've only taken over recently.

Closing for now until we see any kind of statement.
Remember though folks, we're all here for the same thing :)

Quoting: KelsI think it's time to shut comments down, Liam. Not that they were good to start with, but they're really descending into irrelevant axe-grinding that's got nothing to do with Hinterland's decision.Pretty rare we actually have things like this. In this case I agree.

I can and will point out stupid things major stores and developers do, but that absolutely doesn't mean I am picking a side.

Quoting: ProtektorAbsolute rubbish. You're conflating the idea of not liking a specific thing someone did with not liking them at all. That's a dangerous thought pattern and I absolutely do not agree.Quoting: liamdaweI didn't actually pick a side. Saying something is dumb, is not picking a side.In a sense you did pick a side. You are declaring a value of the idea or argument which is a way of picking a side in an argument or discussion. It would be no different from saying "that is smart" which is a value statement.

Quoting: ProtektorPersonally I think they (GOG) realized they (GOG) made a mistake by quickly removing it (the tweet) but some did a screenshot of it. Why would they do a screenshot of it unless they were afraid it would be removed and wanted to nail them to the wall with it, because they didn't think removing it was nearly enough? It is clear there were other motives on the other side to me.Motives on the other side? Oh please. GOG did this themselves.

Quoting: TuxeeThat's exactly the point they tried to make. Yet people don't see how GOG doing the same about something else is an issue.Quoting: kuhpunktNo you didn't (or rather wouldn't if tweeted). You'd make fun of 6 million murdered people by using an euphemism used solely by the Nazi for their genocide. That's not raising awareness. That's just plain stupid. Or vile. I get triggered on that since I hear such "funny quotes" much more frequently in recent times, both from "normal people" and politicians.Quoting: PatolaIt even raises awareness that such motto exists. That's baffling. What's next? Will Proton be the #FinalSolution for playing games on Linux? Look, I raised awareness to the Holocaust!

Quoting: the3dfxdudeCompletely ignore what I said then :)Quoting: liamdaweLiam, I was referring the the eurogamer.net article as atrocious. Not your article. That's all I've been intending to make a point on. You're getting off track completely trying to pull out a point "low tolerance for anyone having thoughts of their own". What is this supposed comment thread to be about now?Quoting: the3dfxdudeMy article is atrocious for speculating on a single thing, that has as shown by another comment, caused another developer to withdraw their support for GOG? I would call that pretty on point.Quoting: PatolaThe problem was not so much mentioning it as so openly choosing a side - which one commenter promptly exposed, like with the "dumb" adjective to refer to the tweet.Actually, I don't see his comment as picking a side, and I apologize if I made it sound so.
I just think the article is atrocious, as it only paints a picture of GOG as dumb. But that is only a personal attack by GOG's detractors.
If you think a single mention of something I deem dumb, well, you have an extremely low tolerance for anyone having thoughts of their own eh?

Not that I find either of them offensive, but yours is certainly not stepping on anyone's toes.Quoting: the3dfxdudeMy article is atrocious for speculating on a single thing, that has as shown by another comment, caused another developer to withdraw their support for GOG? Quoting: fabertaweGOG should have had more sense than to post that. The level of uproar and backlash however, is just ludicrous. My thoughts exactly. The comments here only further show how dumb their tweet was.
