Looks like the Linux market share on Steam went up in January
8 Feb 2018 at 12:19 am UTC

To add my own experience, on Linux I've seen the survey maybe 3 times in 3 years and yes I also saw it a lot more on Windows. I don't know what that says, I don't know their methods or how they do their sampling.

I shall continue to talk to developers to see their sales stats, sadly the latest round of emails and social messages has resulted in zero developers replying. Shall continue until some do for part 6 of my sales stats articles.

Some initial thoughts on the Logitech Driving Force G29 Steering Wheel

Quoting: Luke_NukemWhy on earth are you still driving from third-person perspective with a wheel? Ewww!
This was a video from the day it arrived and the day after it arrived and when using gamepad it was my preferred view. I switch between them now and the front view is quite interesting with the wheel, but personal preference and all that.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleI bought my Logitech wheel just for ETS2 and it changed the entire experience for me. Suddenly the Zen amped up to 11.
I might have let my son try ATS today with, quite hilarious.

Quoting: GustyGhostSome of your quotes from when that percentage was trending downward:

The survey is pointless anyway since Valve does not mention the sample size.
In my opinion the steam survey is a highly unreliable way to count Linux marketshare (as a whole).

Firstly, it can only count those who have steam accounts. Not all Linux users have steam.

Secondly its numbers are way out of sync with everywhere else... 0.2%? Almost all other places rate us at 1-2% range.
...As I said, we should just ignore this "random" survey garbage.
If it doesn't matter to you when it's going down, then why does it matter when it's going up?
The first quote is from "bintsmok".

The second quote is from "BlackBloodRum".

The last quote is from "no_information_here".

None of them are from me, all those comments are from here, see for yourself.

Edit: I see you decided to make it clearer now with your own edit ;)

Quoting: ScooptaVP doesn't port...they just wrap. I won't be buying this.
This type of stance is really silly. Do you buy Feral games? They're not exactly that different, they have their own special layer as well. As do likely many ports.

VP's ports like other ports are supported, mostly work well, they run like other games and so on.

Facts are, Linux is not currently profitable enough for anyone to consider entirely rewriting a rendering engine to support OpenGL/Vulkan.

My motto while livestreaming is: Good games, done badly.

If I can do it, anyone can.

Quoting: haggqvistThe most realistic motocross game, MX Simulator, has been Linux-native since 2008.
All others are glossy-looking arcade games for wee children in comparison... :)
Just had a look at MX Simulator, not something I've heard about before today. Graphically it's quite bad, but hey graphics don't make a game. Looks like it might be worth taking a further look into, thanks.
