Quoting: ShmerlDX9 games actually mostly have very good support already. You probably meant DX11 ones?
No, I meant what I said.

Lots of games still need workarounds of some form. DX9 is only one part of the puzzle though of course they still have to imorove various other things to get more games to work flawlessly.

Albion Online hasn’t exactly been the smoothest of launches so far, but I'm hopeful for the future of it

Quoting: liamdaweWhile you're here, any plans to add in AA as a graphical option?
I actually added FXAA a few days before release. It probably won't go live though before the next major update in ~8 weeks. The reason is that our current working version is already quite different from the live version and would be too risky to just merge that in with a minor update. Also I just added an _Ultra_ quality settings mode (same as high but with AA). Future plans are to have AA and other settings as individual options but not sure what the UI team priorities are atm. So I cannot say which version it will be once deployed live. All I can tell is that AA and possible other nice post-processing options which are currently evaluated by our artists will come to Albion Online in the not too distant future. =)
Fantastic, really pleased to hear that.

Quoting: eloLiam, I believe you have options for this on Linux too with webrcon? That should open up the posibility to properly control it through multiple tools (web, linux, windows, android..). http://facepunch.github.io/webrcon/#/home [External Link]

If you're running a Rust server you need to add "+rcon.web 1" to the command line to enable web based Rcon. If you don't define a port it will use the default port, but you will also need to set a password, which you can do with "+rcon.password password".
Doesn't this solve the issue of doing server admin stuff?

EDIT: Seems like the say command that is available through webrcon should work fine, and I see multiple good web interfaces and android clients for this :)
That's perfect, our server was already setup to allow it. Will bookmark that, thanks!

Quoting: michaBtw. for those with launcher problems (only on distributions we do not supported officially support to my knowledge). We now deploy the latest client without the launcher to this URL:

http://live.albiononline.com/clients/albion-online-fullgame-linux.zip [External Link]

Of course that means you have to manually re-download it every time we deploy a new version/patch.

Quoting: TheYetiWakesRust updated today and I can no longer connect to the GOL server. It returns the error 'Wrong Connection Protocol - server update required'
Yeah, I had to wait as there were 5 people on, but it got down to 1 and I couldn't hold it off forever. It's now up to date again.

I would advise all to keep an eye on Rust updates, to promptly come off if there is one so I can update :)
Is it possible for you to to send admin-warnings like: "server is going for a reboot in 10 minutes" from non-interactive terminal? If yes, and if server can be updated from a script, you could have a script that warn online players at 10 minutes, 5 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds, now, and then auto update for you. If you only run it manually and you check if it succeeded afterwards then the script doesn't have to be perfect.
The applications usually used to do server admin stuff are almost always entirely on Windows. I have yet to find one that has such features on Linux :(

The MMO 'Albion Online' releases today and we will be livestreaming

Quoting: GuestI wouldn't really buy this game tbh. It doesn't really look good at all (not just graphics, but gameplay/story wise).

Here is a part where streamers talked about it (I trust their opinion, that's why I want you guys check it out):

It's not a game you play for a story, it's a sandbox MMO, saying it's not good because of the story is stupid because it's not a story game. It's not a traditional MMO with boring story fetch-quests.

I've got 10+ hours it in and I'm enjoying it a lot, our guild is growing too.

Quoting: EhvisI can't find it that specific myself it says "PC" on the news posts and "Steam" on the website, which is both rather unspecific. That said, being a UE4 game it wouldn't surprise me if they needed a little extra time to get mac and linux sorted.
This was direct info to me.
Any details on why? Problems porting or just that Linux is a low priority?
Nope, not given any details about it.

The SteamDB [External Link] entry of this game already includes the Linux icon and the steam page of this game shows the Linux requirements.
Never put 100% trust in SteamDB or sys requirements.

If I hear any more I will let people know.

The game recently got patched after I put out the article, changes:
-Add idle builder & extractor hotkey.
-Quick rallypoint option (change rally with just move orders), can be turned off in the settings.
-German and Italian translations.
-Disconnected shown on player's units if they aren't in the game.
-Fixes to hotkey saving.
-Builders/spiders now selected automatically when starting a game
-New options: '-width', '-height', '-fullscreen', '-nomusic' added for troubleshooting
