Quoting: KohriasDoes it count as a Linux sale if I buy now? I'd definitely like to have it but I want the credit to go to our platform.
Yes, of course. All purchases on Steam will count towards the platform it's purchased and played on. To repeat what I say every time: This is only an issue for purchases outside of Steam. I've had this confirmed from many developers.

Quoting: harshbarjThere's also no reason to think they will be supporting Linux either. Their track record looks rather dismal.
To be fair, that track record goes a long time back, long before Linux were even remotely relevant as a gaming platform. Personally I don't think we should judge any company on what they did for Linux in the pre-Steam era, ergo before 2013.
This is something important to remember. Since Steam has been on Linux, the only HITMAN game released since then supports Linux.

Edit: clarified a bit

Quoting: Kuduzkehpan*.RUN files *.BIN files *.SH files are already linux generic executables and installers. just like
*.MSİ *.EXE *.BAT
None of which come close to helping solve issues that Flatpak is aimed at.

Quoting: meggermanCan anyone confirm if this works with Games not installed on /home drive ?
This should work without a problem (my games are on a /mnt/-mounted partition). But you have to allow access to the directory with --filesystem=<DIRECTORY> (either via flatpak run for each application start or flatpak override to persist the setting) or else you won't be able to access it.
Well that sounds rather unfriendly, hope they make that much easier in future.

Neil deGrasse Tyson's Space Odyssey apparently will come to Linux

Judging by this comment [External Link], it seems they plan to update the project to mention Linux:
@Rance Justice thank you for the comment! You make a stunning case for Linux, and we are more excited than ever to support the platform. You make many great points and you are absolutely right that you should not have stumble upon the comment. We will be updating the kickstarter and the FAQ to be clear about this. Best of luck to you as well!
Still, I'm not in the habit of spending money on something that clearly doesn't exist. The team also sound rather inexperienced. I have a very bad feeling about it.

Insurgency: Sandstorm looks absolutely stunning, still planned to release on Linux

Quoting: 14I don't like side scrollers much, but the animation looks really good in that trailer. I'm actually a bit interested now.
It's not a side scroller. 2D yes, but you can fly in all directions to explore.
It's still viewed from a side camera so it's still a side scroller.
I get what you're saying, totally do, but side scroller is a term not usually used for games like this where you have complete freedom of direction, but in 2D. A side scrolling is generally restricted to moving one way across the screen to progress.

From the previous interview on GOL:

Q: When you want to get porting, do you reach out to developers, or do they reach out to you?
A: Both. I mostly get referrals, but I will reach out to developers of a game I'm a big fan of. That's one of the reasons I decided to start this thing, freedom to chose my work.
It's not so clear though what happens with HB first, and whether they reach out to developers as well, or the other way around. Are they even still doing it? In the early days HB were pushing this work. No idea what's going on today with it.
There's a big difference between a small one man studio going for smaller games, to porting houses like Feral, VP and Aspyr (the one's I actually mentioned).

I see this as good news, but feel free to be as pessimistic as you like ;)

Quoting: liamdaweI don't think anybody hires Feral, Aspyr & VP directly. I think they reach out to developers and publishers to port their games.
Not necessarily. It can go in both directions.
It can, but that won't happen often for Linux. Not many bigger developers and publishers are interested in Linux. From what I know and understand, it's often porters reaching out, not the other way around.
