Quoting: liamdaweWine has been around for a long time and so far it hasn't really stopped any games coming to Linux.

Wine is a fantastic tool.

There will always be games Linux doesn't get and people should not be forced into giving them up or never getting a chance to play them. I take a much more pragmatic approach than a lot of people on this issue.

Starcraft II for example, one of my favourite RTS games ever made. It will never come to Linux, but that doesn't mean I have to give it up.

I would rather people used Wine on Linux, than Windows.
You have to teach me to run some of Blizzard's stuff on wine.
Maybe a tutorial some day :)
Hah not likely, I just tried Lutris, then Wine by itself, then Wine Staging...couldn't get the darn Blizzard app working at all. No Starcraft II for me today!

Not everyone agrees to that hard-rule. It's not a one size fits all rule.

There's also the people who purchased it on the previous promises of a Linux port and got stung by it, quite a lot of people I imagine.

Fantastic to see it working so well, although it does seem to stutter a lot, so hopefully performance can be worked out. Still, that's quite incredible progress for Wine.

ARK: Survival Evolved release date revealed, plus new free map

Quoting: DMGSomehow I do not have any performance issue, but texture glitches is there, and ARK devs ignore them, as much as they can:

For me only playable map is SE, because there is small amount of water and it is main glich reason (rivers, waterfalls, rain) in any other map. Even caves is playable there. They has some glitches in entrance, but only there.
I've tweeted to them from the GOL account: https://twitter.com/gamingonlinux/status/874938331125231617 [External Link]

I tweeted Jat and the official twitter to, no reply from either.

Edit: I've also emailed them now too.

Quoting: scaineQuick update - if you add -force-glcore to your launch options, you'll lose the purple water, at least at high quality. Much better. Very impressed with this release so far, even with the various reported issues [External Link].
Sounds like they haven't updated their Unity engine for a while then, don't think that's even an option in newer builds?

Quoting: scaineIf they've fixed in-game voice chat, I might actually buy this.
Honestly, I turn off in-game chat in everything. I use my own clients like Discord, Mumble or whatever. Always works better.

Quoting: EhvisThe sneaky thing is that this release is tagged with Linux support, but a lot of the DLC (including most heists) are still not available for Linux.

I have the base game (since before it was free), but never played much. I'd be interested in joining a noob (friendly) squad to check it out.
They may not show up in the DLC list in Steam but they are usable in the game, I have everything & it's all there in game.
Yeah everything works, they just haven't tagged some of it correctly.

Ah thanks, missed it since I tend to expect these kind of details on the official sites...
It's in the news post on our official site, thisaway: http://www.feralinteractive.com/xx/news/772/ [External Link]
Interesting, was that put up after the Tweet went out? Don't usually miss that sort of thing. Oh well :), really glad to know it's coming soon!

Edit: I still think that sort of info should be on a minisite though ;)
