The circuit building simulator 'SHENZHEN I/O' gets 'overwhelmingly positive' reviews from Steam users

I actually saw repeated requests sent to the developer with our @gamingonlinux Twitter account tagged asking the developer to send us a copy, they never replied thankfully, as I know this would go way over my head too!

As mentioned though, that's a long way off.
Well, that is entirely up to you, isn't it? You may not be entirely satisfied with your code, but it exists and it works, as proven by the fact that I am able to post this message here. Therefore it can be published.

I do think it is a good idea, and would urge you to go ahead and release it sooner than later. If you are not comfortable with going all the way right from the start, make it invite-only (Patreon reward, maybe?). I am sure than we have a few code monkeys (me including) around that would love to poke their fingers in your code. ;)
Making it Patreon-invite only is something I have considered for early-on until I really think it's ready :)

Eliosi's Hunt, a sci-fi top-down shooter could come to Linux with enough interest

Quoting: MyeulCI believe you are right, Liam. I hope my comment didn't sound too harsh, I just wanted to point out some possible reasons for porting a game that would justify it with its mere existence.

I watched the video this evening, and it actually looks good, so I would be interested in this game as well.
It wasn't aimed at you, at all.

I think some of you have the wrong attitude here.

No one is begging and no one is being asked to beg.

Not every developer is comfortable diving into another platform they don't know well. If they see there is interest and bring it to Linux, then that's great.

Edit: Seriously, do you realize how idiotic it is to speak to a developer like that on their own Steam forum? What a fantastic way to put off a developer claiming they are making people beg or grovel or whatever as they just want to see how much interest there is.

Quoting: damarrinThis whole discussion made me realise I actually miss the monthly survey and survey results articles. I especially miss the one or two unique questions every month.

Here's my take on this (make with it what you will):

A week before you poll our accounts for data (however often you want to do that, say every two months), make an (semi-automated) article about it. Include a prominent link to the profile page, so I just need to click it, review my data and click save. If there's a unique question you (or someone else? There could also be an article asking for suggestions a few days prior) want to ask, include this in the article.

Then, after the data is collected, you make another article linking to the updated stats page and giving the stats for the unique question(s). Best of both worlds! \o/

Also, browsing the fresh results, it's occurred to me that I'd really like them to include percentage values. Personally, I'd even make them more prominent than the absolute values, as they are the more immediately interesting ones. Something like the box we get at the end of every bar now, with percentage above in larger font and absolute value in below in smaller font (that would also solve your numbers-are-so-big-they-look-cluttered problem somewhat) in it.
Interesting ideas. I could probably hook up an article to remind people quite easily like I do with the monthly overview. Could possibly look at doing that today even.

As for percentages, if you hover over the bar it gives you the percentages. The dropdowns below each graph also give more info.

Quoting: s8as8aInstead of making it so that the survey automatically takes information from our profiles or making it so that we have to manually enter everything, I think that a good alternative idea would be to make the surveys need one manual click so that they take the profile information. That way, people that forget to update their profiles will not be counted in the surveys, and people that want to enter in the surveys don't have to enter all the details each time.
This is what data drop-off will be for, to not force everyone to have to update until it gets to a certain length of time if they haven't.

Quoting: scaineAnd if you do drop off, it would be nice to see that boldly displayed on your profile page, so that if you visit it, it will remind you to update it.
Now that is an interesting suggestion! Will have to make a note of that one! Thanks :)

Quoting: Xpandermaybe make a pop-up at the end of every month for people who log into the site, with the information to update their profile.

might annoy some people though.
I would never do a pop-up, but an announcement bar on the site is probable.

Quoting: liamdaweObviously, this is why data from people who haven't updated their profiles in a while won't be included.
I had not updated my profile for some months but I only changed the OS. I think it's a wise idea to put a restriction, however maybe there is nothing to update next time. I probably will be using the same data for some months, but I wouldn't want to be out of the survey (however I did think the old one was very boring and extensive, I'm glad this is now automatic).
Yeah, I will be looking into some kind of a reminder, where people can click if nothing has changed, and another link to direct people to change their details if old.

Easy to do, but I am working on some other site features ATM.
