I tried to use the famous Phoronix Test Suite to benchmark it, but I find that software to be rather cumbersome and annoying to use. I can't seem to get the Dota 2 benchmark to even run. I edited the script to actually point to my Dota 2 install (the PTS test relies on the default install location) but it doesn't find Steam). See my forum post on Phoronix here about it, maybe someone can shed some light as I've never really used PTS before. If I can get it to work, I will do some proper tests.
The GoL/Phoronix Blood Feud continues... :D
Not at all, I have great respect for his work despite my comments now and then (Read Phoronix for years), but PTS could use some quality of life updates to make it simpler to use. A UI wouldn't be a bad idea either.

There is now an open source driver and GTK3 based UI for interacting with the Steam Controller

Quoting: WorMzyWould be better if it was GTK2, but oh well, maybe somebody will port it.
Yeah nothing like staying in the past :P

Out of interest, why?

Quoting: leillo1975Install this driver don't broke the Valve driver? It's possible activate and deactivate? Could be configurated to work with wine? Can be used by a Steam Game? I'm thinking that Steam controller don't works well with ETS2 and ATS in Linux, and if this driver can emulate X360 (works great)...
Just added this into it:
What's really great is that it won't interfere with Steam games. If you look at the screenshot above the green icon on the top left corner tells you if the driver is currently being used. If you turn it off, the icon will turn red and allow Steam to use it.

Well I tried some mods, I do hope they add in a mod downloader into it as that would certainly simplify it.

Shame though, the subgames I tried didn't work due to missing lua.init or something.

Quoting: z3ntuWell I have a HD7970 in my tower at home, so hopefully they will support that card in the future (I mostly use my laptop (Nvidia) right now).
I think it's likely such an old card will need to use the open source driver.

Unless it is under a license approved by the FSF it's not open source. Or so people say.

Some thoughts on Shadwen, Frozenbyte's new stealth game available for Linux

Quoting: PicoboomI was looking forward to this game, but now I'm hesitant to buy it. All the reviews I've seen so far give me the impression that Lily is being escorted without reason. Is this true? That, once saved, Lily dodders along complicating and interfering Shadwen's actions? It is as if Shadwn, instead of Lily, finds a ball-and-chain which she then clasps about her ankle before undertaking her mission.
From what I have played and listened to when it gives you story voice over: Shadwen doesn't want to let her go as she could break her cover and get her killed.

Vulkan support for Dota 2 to come next week

The main problem is the Apple does still have the bigger market share, so if a game built with DirectX is getting ported and they look to other platforms Apple/Metal may still end up being a winner.

The main thing to remember is that hopefully Vulkan will improve performance of games that do come to Linux.

Just keep buying Linux games, keep advertising Linux to friends and family and keep the push going guys.
