Vulkan support for Dota 2 to come next week

Metal is likely one reason why Blizzard's new Overwatch game is Windows only. Older OpenGL and Metal likely doesn't have the features they want. Not having Vulkan could be a really bad decision for Apple.

Steam Controller doesn't work in-game at all.
This is unfortunate. I just got a steam controller so I'm trying to understand things that everyone else probably knows. By this statement, do you mean that by default it doesn't work? But it is implied that you can always make a mapping of the controller to the mouse and keyboard yourself, right? And you can always make a mapping of the steam controller to a gamepad right?

So hopefully it is just a matter of time until the community comes up with a good mapping?
Sorry, should have been more clear. It doesn't work as a gamepad at all, but it's possible you could configure it like other games that don't support a gamepad, I haven't tried.

Quoting: GoboThanks for the heads up on threaded optimizations and the openGL4 parameter, I never understood why the autodetect option always turned every gfx option to "low"... now it looks nice and is performing as expected!

But maybe I got another stupid question: How do I enable the launcher on linux? I'd like to check out the marketplace and some of those maps advertised in the quick challenge menu.
From what I understand the launcher doesn't currently support Linux. One of the reasons the Linux version isn't yet properly supported.

Quoting: MalMy last game was pretty heavy.

I spawned in a galaxy arm with birdmen on the right and a lot of expansion space on the left.

I thought I was in the perfect spot and I started expanding.

Sadly, unbeknownst to me on the upper arm there was an militant isolationist empire who gently offered to cross the empty space, exterminate all my colonies and humiliate me.

And here I thought the Vogons were assholes XD
The game is full of good material for hilarious stories of failure that's for sure. Even more so when they do the update to add in more mid-game content.

Quoting: seven... if the linux support is good....

i left amd cpu and gpu behind me years ago and my life only got better, that said is not healthy for the market with one brand monoplizing the shit out of said market. so i aplaud their efforts
This is why I am hoping Polaris and Zen are both as good as they currently sound, but only time will tell.

Quoting: jnriversStellaris @ 17 hours. Picked fight I couldn't win, surrendering terms were the emancipation of all my systems except home base. Tried re-conquering my lost systems only to get b****-slapped. Crawled back like a beat dog claiming systems none of the other empires would touch. Game is way too addictive for me : )
Sounds similar to my first game, strangely similar :D

I have finally found a way to sort out screen tearing on Nvidia with Linux

Quoting: HunkThanks for the great hint! No more tearing in fullscreen, but do you guys know any ways for turning Vsync on when you not in fullscreen? Like Firefox browsing and scrolling in Linux Mint Cinnamon.

I have terrible tearing on scrolling for a very long time. I disabled Fullscreen composition in Cinnamon settings and Sync to VBlank is on in Nvidia settings but no luck.

Thanks in advance.
This fixes to desktop tearing too.

Quoting: chuzzle44Numerous posts about Vulkan. Doom gets ported to Vulkan, "not relevant to Linux gaming". Awful indie garbage gets a post. Is it even relevant to gaming at all? I know that Doom on Vulkan doesn't mean we are getting it. It still gives me hope.
It's not a Linux game, so essentially you want me to start posting about Windows games just because of Vulkan? You're on the wrong website.

Quoting: liamdaweI did make a bug report to the Cinnamon developers back in January with no reply: https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues/4990 [External Link]
Your bug report doesn't include enough information to be helpful, no mention of hardware, drivers, etc…

You could also try reporting it upstream, in your case that'd be: https://github.com/linuxmint/muffin [External Link]
While true, still no one replied to even ask for more info.

As for "upstream", well Cinnamon is the overall upstream for all of it since it affects Cinnamon directly.
